    Torque - the movie.

I was having breakfast this morning at a cafe this morning, and sitting across the cafe was Martin Henderson, who was in the movie "Torque".

Couldn't help myself, wandered across and asked if he could ride, or if it was a stunt double. Interestingly, he could ride before the movie, and he did most of the riding scenes apart from the Carver moments. He also went on to say that in one scene, the stunt rider ahead of him made a move in the wrong (not agreed) direction - and as a result he lost some skin when he dropped the Aprillia he was riding (he showed me the scar).

He was patient with me, and actually a normal sort of guy.

I went to primary school with that Martin Henderson and we both liked the same girl...... so, we thought we would settle our differences with a bamboo sword fight. What started off as a little bit of a game got quite serious and he cut me across my stomach and ran off. My brother and some of his friends gave him a little after school lesson. Thats a true story folks.

That is actually a great movie. I enjoy it every time I watch it.

The plot is stupid to the point of just ignoring it entirely, sure, and most of the movie is just over-the-top. But that is part of the charm. It recognises the silliness, and rather than all the trying-to-be-serious car chase movies, it goes go far over the top that it's actually funny to watch. I mean, right from the start when Ford races past the road sign, making it spin in his draft, revealing the words "cars suck" - you can tell it's going to be a laugh.

But even more than that, the cinematography in the movie is brilliant. Costumes, set design, props, camera angles/movements, lighting - everything is just a joy to watch. Although of course I must admit that 99% of the usual film-watching plebians will not notice a jot of this.

Definitely one of the better films that have come out in the last few years.

I loved the part in Torque where he's flying down the streets of LA on a Y2K trying to catch a harley.

And also the road bikes that magically become dirt bikes with fairings when they go off road.
