Southern Coast ADV ride (14-15 Feb)

I'v added my name to the list, as long as you guys don't mind a slow, unfit, mature rider on an overloaded 2 smoke tagging along.
I'm in Upper Hutt on 11th & 12th with work anyway, so it just means riding up instead of flying.
Not sure how I'm going to convince the wife that it's actually a "work" trip though - my cunning plan could yet be torpedoed.

Hi guys,

Just a quick report back on the booking with Orongorongo Station.

Owner currently away, spoke with owners daughter who said there is a big coast mountain bike event already booked for Feb that may clash with our dates or may be Waitangi Day weekend, she wasn't sure, but date has not been put in diary as yet!

She will update me as soon as she can! Fingers crossed!

While I had her on the phone I did a double check on exiting east out of the Station just to be absolutely sure and she confirmed absolutely definitely yes once off their Station it's clear access through to Ocean Beach, no other landowners blocking the way!

Will update as soon as I hear back from them on the dates.

check out Red Rocks thread. The Makairo has claimed another. Jims (aka BusaJim, aka Balrog) leg is infected from that hit he took on that ride.

He's coming right after some expert nursing care. Thank god, he is NOT a good patient. Something to do with having no bloody patience.

Sat Jan 10th some of us will be doing a reccie of the Orongorongo Station 4wd coast track so we can report back for planning the Southern Coast ADV ride.

Just (finally!) found the internet listing of the potential mountain bike ride clash for our dates of needing access across Orongorongo Station(thx to Pete376403 for the name of it - the Big Coast!) and its on MARCH 14th/15th SO DOES NOT clash with our dates!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So unless there's some other event the Orongorongo Station owner hasn't put in her diary yet that her daughter didn't know about, we should be fine for Feb 14th! I'll be on the phone to them this week as already advised.

The next issue for Orongorongo will be whether the really big bikes like the BMW1150/1200's wanna be going over that boulder-field-of-a-slip we rode thru yesterday???????
