Secondly, when passing a bike or a car you need much more passing room, there were times when you passed a car and both the car you were over taking and oncoming car had to slow down to allow you to get through. And you do need more room before corners when overtaking.

but its all a learning experience and everyone made it out
agreed always ride your own ride.
if you wanna learn lines,do it behind a mentor, either on the road or at, preferably at a track day.
glad everyone made it out, readin c steves posts you're all very lucky

Ive been on heaps of group rides and this one was very good from what I saw on riders do their own thing and being safe. Was a good ride, dont want this turning into a bad thread

Chaos just shoulda said sorry. His explaination was just tweaked my annoyance button a little bit but Im sure he is sorry and will take note for next ride

No serious damage to me - fractured right wrist (now in a cast after 14 hours at A&E ) and a bruised left shoulder & ribs & a few minor abrasions. Strangely, I'm actually a lot less achy today than I was yesterday.
As I was examining you, I made mention that it's really easy to break bones in places like your wrists, and not know it due to adrenaline and shock. The swelling was very quick, and that is normally an indication that there's something going on. I've broken both of mine 6-7 times.

You're more than welcome to come grab my trailer at any time - but it sounds like you rode home?

The thing is, with group rides, you're always going to get an element of friction between riders because most people want to ride their own ride. But that doesn't excuse them from not being aware of riders behind them wanting to pass - just let them pass if they want to and carry on. Courtesy goes a long way.

I've only recently started on KB rides, first with the SATNR early last year and then Toto's November Northland loop and this one. Previously, I haven't been much of a organised group rider except in the 'Darby Street' days. Everyone needs to find their own pace and organise themselves roughly right after stops so as to minimise the friction, especially so with inexperienced riders around - they don't need any more obstacles.

Yeah, rode it home to save hassle. It was a fracture but there was no dislocation. I don't break particularly easily - it took a plane crash to break my first bones in '00.

Trump lady followed me back to Dargaville and Crazy Steve caught us up there at the Caltex where we'd been resting & eating. Then Din Pelenda caught up at the end of the Dargaville straights and Trump lady left us at Brynderwyn as we hit SH1, only to pass us again on SH16 when I had to stop for a bit of a rest and to impress the horses.

Actually, traffic was lighter than I expected on SH1, but I decided SH16 was a better (and more enjoyable) option. I didn't want to ruin my enjoyment of the ride any more than I already had! We stayed fairly dry until we hit the NW motorway.

however i did pass alot of you for what looked like no reason at all. im new to riding and what i was doing was getting to the front to follow toto and the 250cbrs lines because of the chines whispers effect that happens with the riding lines as it goes down the pack and i wanted to learn from the fresher lines

awsome ride much better then the coro loop, was able to learn alot about how by bike handles and how to get the most out the rev ranges in the twisties

i apologize again and say thankyou for and awsome day

oh and huge thanks to the kind gentleman that filled up my tank i owe you one
The correct approach is to talk to a mentor or experienced rider, and then stick on their wheel. I watched you doing some silly stuff - passing up the left, forcing a rider wide (twice), braking mid corner, rolling off the throttle etc. Group rides have ettiquite, the reason for it is that if you make a mistake, you can bring another rider down. ZXRider and I got so pissed off watching you that we both jumped off the front and left you to it (the Gixer 1000 and ZX9R). He has 40 years riding experience, ex-racer, and he was riding about 6/10ths.

You were riding past your abilities, and you need to spend time with a mentor. We were young and inexperienced once, the lucky ones get to do this for a long time and improve with age and practice. Possibly the most consistent lines I saw were GSXRTrace's - she's a good, experienced rider who rides conservatively and well within her limits.

I'm the worst person to follow, my line is lazy (I'm riding a thou).

As for the 250 ride comment - I think I got you beat. Chasing y'all into D'ville, I banged off the rev limiter in 6th... It was on a private road.

Glad to hear mate! Wrists can be a nightmare! Broken my right one twice, the 2nd time from a bin which happened about 6 months ago. The Doctors in Thames said it was a minor fracture, but after seeing a specialist turned out I'd torn ligaments and shattered several of the smaller bones....

3 operations and 6 months later I pretty much have arthritis at age 26... still sore from yesterdays ride.

    Don't tell me THAT!

My left elbow is getting a bit that way - my humerus is plated with 8 screws and can be painful if loaded in certain ways. They were going to put a rod inside instead but when they found out I was a motorcyclist decided a bent rod if I binned wasn't going to be the best situation.

Hey Guys nice ride, look forward to the next one.

Yes there were a few close moments and dodgy overtakings, all i can say is please dont assume that the rider in front knows that you are there . this was a 250 ride and novices were to be expected. feel free to pass but allow the passee some room. Otherwise great effort guys, only 1 mishap that i know of.
See you on the next ride.
They said i have so much ass crack that i could be a dealer

    Good ride peeps.

Just one grump at a particular rider who passed a car on a left hand blind corner and then nearly kissed the bank a km down the road. They should know who they are and I would suggest you start to slow down and concentrate on what you are doing or you will become a statistic. Dont outride your capability!
