Just found a good photo of my previous adventure bike
Low seat height, more power than the sherpa, but the handling was pretty average on gravel![]()

This is my steed. It takes me places.
There are two kinds of adventurers: those who go truly hoping to find adventure and those who go secretly hoping they won't. We should come home from our adventures having faced their perils and uncertainties, endured their discomfort and beaten the odds, with a sly acknowledgment and revitalised solidarity of character.
My first adventure bike... 1986 Honda CBX250... from before touring on gravel/4wd roads had a specific name, or bike for that matter! I made a sheepskin solo seatcover, cut down from an old car seat cover. Tank bag and bicycle throw-over panniers completed the adventurisation. The bike did have some off-road heritage; it has an e-start XR250 engine.

No pics of the DT in action yet, coming soon!
I found this old photo of my first adventure bike (well not really I had an XL175 and TC100 before that). This would of been 1980 - I think the XL350 was a 1976. I mostly used it for riding to University in Auckland but did a few interesting rides including 90 mile beach before selling it in about 1984. 20-something years later I've got the new version. Ya gotta compensate for old age and hair loss somehow...
