I did have the name up but mods removed as it's not public knowledge or something...

Errr nz police have released the name so figured that was enough, don't shoot the messenger.

There is an option under your user control panel for fatal accidents with the following settings:

As per kb rules (the default)
No announcement or discussion at all.
    No discussion. Family/friend/media to announce.
Family/friend/media to break the news. Seperate discussion thread.
Anyone can break the news. Discussion in same thread is fine.

If the victim was a fellow Kiwibiker and he had one of the more private options set the mods may wish to have his wishes adhered to.

.. At least that would be my guess.

Im sorry for the person involved - obviously.

But is there some kind of morbid glee in posting this kind of thing as soon as possible - esp with the persons name?

yep, agreed - we all have computers and we are alla ble to access news sites like stuff/xtra etc
I have to agree with Tank, Katman and Quasi these constant 'biker down' threads are pointless and depressing.
Bit different I guess if there's some personal involvement but I'd like to see these threads disappear.

    Just my two cents

Before you judge a man, walk a mile in his shoes. After that, who cares? ...He's a mile away and you've got his shoes

    Me too

Add my vote to removing and banning this type of thread....
Do not walk behind me, for I may not lead
Do not walk ahead as I may not follow.
Do not walk beside me as the path is narrow
In fact FU*K off and leave me alone

The sooner we can stop thi sort of crap from being posted, the sooner I CAN START TO ENJOY VISITING THIS SITE.

Why do we need to notify one and all of this. If it was mwe that was down, i would not wanyt my wife ( who uses this site) to find out because osme fuck wit thinks that a bike r fatality is post worthy.

If a jumbo jet has landed on the motorway and the road is closed, then feel free to tell me. but if a bike r or any motorist dies, idont want to know thanks
Please NOTE: If I offend you with any of my posts or comments, please remember that.

    1. I do it on purpose
    2. I dont give a shit
    3. Tell some one who cares.
