Reading between the lines, I'm guessing your a bit bored with the novelty of a new bike, which as someone else pointed out soon wears off! Building your own personalised bike out of what is already a damned good bike makes a lot of sense, particularly from the 'toy' aspect - there's a lot of pleasure to be had in creating something, plus all that tinkering in the shed, you can't beat that!
    Yaaaa....someone actually gets it!
Between my lady and I, we've had 18 bikes in 3 years...16 of them were new and pretty reasonable.
Have basically been there...did that. Priorities have changed for me this year and feel like doing something different, plus racing won't be cheap either

No can do due to job...plus I'd buy a certain other similar bike over the Tuono.

    Tough call.

The 07 is a beautiful machine and only gets better with bling.

But the sound of the 09 must be heaven..... And you can always add bling down the track to keep it interesting.

I know... How about you tee me up a test ride an 09 so I can answer for sure

Sounds like a cake and eat it situation developing here.

I'm sure you'll get a mean deal on the 09 but it'd still be pricey I'm guessing. An 07 tricked out with full pipe/headers, PCIII and full suspension blah blah is gonna be a better ride for the money huh?

Should even have some change for racing. I hear it isn't that cheap....

Well, that changes things, that effectively you have access to a pretty boys bike whenever you want to be poncy

You know how fun the naked hooligan bikes are... hypermotard, maybe tweak it a little, as you do. Ta-da... a toy.

Go the '07. NZ'ers by and large are a conservative bunch who balk at the mere sight of a non-standard paintjob.

Make the bike your own, rather than just buying a compromised approximation the same as the one pulled up next to you at the lights.

What do you want from a bike?
Are you happy with stock suspension?
Are you happy with stock engine performance
Are you happy with stock exhaust sound?
Are you happy with stock aesthetics?
Are you happy with stock handling?
Are you gonna carry a pillion?

You've got a good budget (racing or not) so do something a bit out of the ordinary instead of buying just another throw away toy (no pun intended):
    Carbon wheel's
    Moriwaki or Sato exhaust
Self supporting carbon subframe/tail section or tank/subframe monococque,
    six piston calipers http://shop.durbahn.de/shop/en/bikes...-R1?bikecat=63
    Ultra light ceramic discs http://shop.durbahn.de/shop/en/bikes...-R1?bikecat=42
    lightweight battery http://shop.durbahn.de/shop/en/bikes...-R1?bikecat=18
Carbon fairing, minus 1 heavy headlight
    Big bore kit (1080cc) http://www.tts-performance.com/catal...roducts_id=489
Full Ohlins forks http://www.superbikeplanet.com/class...owAd&adId=6780 matched with http://www.superbikeplanet.com/class...owAd&adId=6787 and talk to Dr Bob about a damper to match

...of course if you want something even more special start with this...http://www.superbikeplanet.com/class...owAd&adId=6745 and add this http://www.superbikeplanet.com/class...owAd&adId=6786

It's not just about throwing a bit of carbon fibre or an exhaust at it, it's about making the bike better represent what your ideal bike would be, unfettered by race rules or engineering compromises. Or you could buy an '09 complete with it's wheelbarrow handle exhausts and tacky front end the same as the rest of the follow the trend crowd.....

I'm sorry, the title of WHEELBARROW has already been taken.

It belongs to the 06/07 ZX10R...

    Find another...

Sprotbikes all look the same when you squint, anyway, or after a few bourbons. Buy a Buell 1125R.
kiwibiker is full of love, an disrespect.
