I don't care how many bourbons ya gave me, there's no way I'm goin' home with one of those fugger's.....even if you threw in 6 extra belts to replace the ones I strip or a 1098 front end to replace that shonky rim brake that every Buell racer (all 3 of 'em) curses.

Hmmmph, paint a ZRX1200, XJR1300, CB1300 and GSX1400 the same and most people couldn't pick them apart, so I wouldn't say naked's are known for their diversity.

It'd still give your R1 the learn.

It'd be straightforward once they got moving, though - the GSX1400'd be the one way off the front.

But he can't get a KTM (his own limitations) so lets rabbit on about how great they are
Map 2, which is perfectly alright for stock pipes clears that up nicely. Map 1, is just to get it past the euro emmisions, and I don;t think anybody, including Aprilia and the Euro teting guys expect an owner to stay on map 1 for long.

Haha, you don't know much about my R1..........

....which is my point for DMNTD. My bike is 8 years old and it's still a weapon (Ohlins shock, Race tech front end, Marchesini's, Akrapovic, ram air box, YEC cams, lightened crank, increased compression, full floating discs) and I still enjoy opening the shed and firing it up.

I just feel sorry for it having to put up with me riding it, poor thing......

Apart from the fact that an 1125R would give it the learn.

Regardless of what may or may not 'learn' what, I think you guys have gone off on a tangent and are missing the point.
DMNTD has been there, done that with fast and latest bikes, unless I'm very much mistaken he's coming at this from a completely different angle - it's about enjoyment and much of that enjoyment, given that he has stated he doesn't have time to ride as much as he'd like is in building/creating a one off special. The fact that he's in the trade makes this even more attractive as he's in the right place to get parts at good prices and so on.

And really when you get past all the testosterone fuelled campfire bragging rights of having a bike that's the fastest, the reality is that for a bike that's used predominantly on the road, top speed is largely irrelevant as anything that's been produced in the last couple of decades is more than capable of loosing you your licence (and your bike for 28 days) in the first 1 or 2 gears. Not only that a good percentage of people buying latest/trickest/fastest bikes can't ride them to their potential anyway, certainly not enough to embarass a late model R1 that's got top of the line suspension and improved braking and power...

Besides, for obvious reasons he's limited to Yamaha, Triumph or Ducati which still leaves him some tasty choices, though for whatever reason he's obviously narrowed that down to the choice of R1's in the poll so we should really stick to discussing them - unless DMNTD has had a change of heart?

Before you judge a man, walk a mile in his shoes. After that, who cares? ...He's a mile away and you've got his shoes

Who cares what we discuss? DMNTD will buy whatever he's going to buy, he just wants some public lovin' beforehand. I don't feel any particular responsibility to put my serious face on about it.

oops, my bad, I thought he was looking at a couple of late model R1's.......

Point taken with the pud pulling though....refer to my earlier post for some helpful hints (bike building, not pud pullin'). I've organised pretty much everything, all he has to do is get out the cheque book. I've even sorted a tasty Yamaha alternative to a run of the mill R1....there aren't too many R7's in NZ........
