That one is the 26 litre as standard on the R100GS and retro-fitted to my R80G/S.

The one in the auction was fitted with teh 45 litre Touratech one http://www.touratech-usa.com/shop/sh...2E7Dunrk7077C9

I am pretty sure the standard tank takes 19 liters. For all but Africa the R100 tanks should be fine, giving a range of close to 400km. I don't see the point of those large tanks in NZ.

And how would you know where the woolly woofters were and how to get there without a GPS?

you can be the tanker for the other bikes? And charge accordingly.
I thought the 45l one was a bit ott but a 400 km range not unreasonable....not so much for the absolute range but always having an option for a backroad loop where the closest gas station may be closed.

If you call an R1200GS gutless, you want it for the wrong reasons. I've never ridden one, but I don't even consider my 1150 gutless.

I have no idea how to do that. I just hear the GPS people talking about them.

well, relatively gutless. more guts than my KLR650.
what i really mean is when you give it a handful in 1st not much happens, but i know that the same not much would happen 2 up with luggage on a step hillside. if you get my meaning.

i really did like it, was super comfy and balanced.

Yes you would be a tanker, and you'd also be waiting around, while the other guys are having fun. I can't see that happening with 45 liters in the tank, even though it's carried quite low.

Great for long distance touring, though.

They're the one to go for. Pretty cheap, if it's a good bike. But you've got to love them to want them.
