    What a day!

Well the day started early, 6:09am checked the oil in the FZ1 (2001 - 162,000kms) unscrewed the fill plug, topped up the oil, put the oil container away and then got dressed my bike gear and headed off to work.

55kms - 45 minutes later I got to work and noticed that the oil fill plug was missing!!!! AND there was an excess amount of oil on the right leg of my over trousers, my right boot is now more waterproof and I panicked.

A quick check of the oil level and I was safe, there was still lots of oil left INSIDE the motor and there was oil all over the bike. Put the bike on the full stand to allow the excess to . . . . . . .

What a start to the day, things improved slowly at work, not great but there was the weekend to look forward to. I was heading to Tauranga for a bike ride to see my niece as we are unable to attend her 21st party, so the weekend was going to be great riding time.

Headed home at 5:30, filled up with petrol to get an early start, tootled home pressed the garage door opener and this was blocking my entry to put the 2001 Yamaha FZ1 I was riding into the garage.

    Talking

What a wife, this is her gift for me.

The story goes that the bike arrived in a crate late Tuesday at Maidstone Yamaha, it was missing the belly pan so Mac contacted Australia to get one (only option is yellow) spray painting was arranged and it arrived late this afternoon at home.

    What a wife . . . . . .

So the trip to Tauranga will be the running in, not over 6000rpm, 4th gear @ 5000rpm = 100km.

    Very nice Mike.

Wow, you've had the fz eight years now? Bout time you got a new one then.

    Very nice bike.
And I to my motorcycle parked like the soul of the junkyard. Restored, a bicycle fleshed with power, and tore off. Up Highway 106 continually drunk on the wind in my mouth. Wringing the handlebar for speed, wild to be wreckage forever.

When is the next ride scheduled for?

The next ride which was to Tauranga to see my neice, has just been completed resulting in (More than meets the Eye) BumbleBee having the first 1000km service completed today. So now I have a rev limit of 7000 for another 600kms which should take until March to complete.

This bike is a poster bike, have just finished cleaning the bike and am concerned with the amount of bugs that are on the bike. So I have revised my riding schedule for this bike to be Sunny weather with no outlook for rain for the next week AND there are NO bugs around.

Seriously it won't be an October bike and having just ridden it to Tauranga and back, it is more a quick dash somewhere for a coffee and for me to really drool over,

The naked FZ1 is indeed the looker. Most nice, particularly in Taranaki colours!
