My 95 Honda Prelude, 5 speed, vtec gets 10L/100km. But I thrash it. Best I would manage to get out of it would be 9L/100km worst would probably be 12L/100km.

When I was living in Melbourne last year, my flatmate and I did a road trip to Adelaide (730km). Was into a headwind all the way there, but spent most of the time drafting about 20 metres behind trucks to protect us from 'roos. Did it on one tank of gas in his 1.4 Seat Ibiza. I think it only took about 45litres. So that was about 6L/100km in a clapped out old (early 90's) carburretored detonating bit of eurotrash.

In my 01 Hyundai H100 2.6L diesel van (non turbo and done 400000kms!) I am quite happy to get 9.5L/100km. It used to get 10.5 but I had the injectors cleaned and a new fuel filter put in and I constantly get under 9.7L/100km now. Before that I only once got below 10L/100km. Most of my driving is on open road and long distance though.

94 Accord nz new about 550km from tank 50-55ltr.(2.2ltr auto)

    99 Falcon xr6 680km from tank 70ltr (4ltr auto)

Interesting about the commodores and falcons is sitting on 100km revs are 2000rpm,honda and similar 4 cyl are about 2750rpm at similar speed.

Find the Falcon as economical as the Honda on trips, and shit loads more grunt when passing.
