The buy now price seems a little high, considering the seemingly unknown history. However, condition is more important than mileage and you can't really tell without looking at the bike in person. Maybe one of the Nelson boys can go and have a look at it for you.

You should also see if you can get a ride on an airhead somewhere. You may not like it. The motor makes a lot of mechanical noises and they are not very fast.

The brakes are for slowing the bike down a bit, so you have a chance to dig in your heels, should you wish to come to a complete stop.

You may wish to read the info on this link

He's had a local offer. I might need to bleed the brakes before hand though as they are getting a bit soft even for a G/S, unless I go down the local boat shop and grab a chain and anchor to throw off the back.

Better do the valves clearances as well, it's been 10,000km and I thought I had lots of change in my pocket the other day, till I realised the bike was running

I really enjoy the R80GS for these sort of rides, Stephen. However, I am not sure if I could live with it as my only bike. I'd be forever changing tyres. The 1150 and the R80 compliment each other well.

    Changing tyres

Alex, the way to get round changing tyres is to get another set of wheels then the changing is quick. Not cheap but it is quick.

    Cheers

True, but I don't need to do that, as I have two bikes :-).
