I can only chuckle at all of this! When I saw Gremlin go up into Pinnacle road instead of going straight, I knew he was adding another 15-20km to the route!

But meh, I luvvies ridings I does!

Actually, its to do with the compression of the engine. A higher compression motor needs a higher octane, to prevent lots of technical words I don't care about. Do a search... lots of brainy people have said brainy things about this.

No... I distinctly remember Badger asking if we could do the Paparimu straights, as he liked those. Accordingly, the route was altered to cater for his needs. Otherwise, we could have gone basically south, instead of a detour to the east first.

I was always heading to Mangatawhiri, but needed to come out onto SH2 before the devation, to test a raised issue with gps still preferring to route people onto the old SH2 (which it did indeed).

Anyway... I also have a recollection of commenting that now I had 4 people following me! The others chuckled, and pretended to rub their hands with glee (little did they know, this was for real), so who do they really have to blame?

I recall a gremlin getting the bash! And rightfully so I like it when gremlin gets bashed, redresses the cosmic karmic balance so to speak

I wonder if one day Trace will give gremlin the bash!

Yer, what he said... My hornet runs much happier on 95... gixxers apparently run well on 91, zxr's well on 91 ridden hard, 95 round town etc... depends on allsorts of jiggery pokery. My old cage got better mileage on 95 to the point the extra money outlaid at the pump made it cheaper overall. The ute seems to go better on 91.

That was directed at Joe... and was basically what tipped me over to go "nah, sod it, lets ride " That little stretch of road always puts a smile on my dial i often forget how far south it puts us though

Oh well, no swarming for me tonight. Been rippin the dirtbike apart just now (smashed 4 teeth off the front sprocket, guy at the shop had never seen anything like it ) and now have to get some sleep before an impromptu night shift tonight... awesome...

You must realise you are upon a steed of breeding and pedigree now. It has taste and class... Treat her like a princess, and she'll treat you to the ride of your life... Spoil her at the pump, and she shall repay the favour on the road...

Ugh, it's too early in the morning to be poetic

    Thumbs up

Well since noone was kind enough to join me for a pootle I decided to explore some roads in my back yard....

Was inspired by all your gravel adventures yesterday and was gutted I couldn't attend...

Did some interesteing tarmac on the back of riverhead and discovered a beautiful road that no bikers ever get onto ...guess why ....half of it is dirt road. Oh my god the views I saw were spectacular. Little streams, wide fields, vineyards...etc

It so happened that that road comes back close to Kaukapakapa and then I decided to go down another unfamiliar road , which also turned to gravel. So I keep on patootaling along the nice hard packed gravel. Saw more fabulous forests, gorgeous gardens, a bunny, beautiful trees. I'm telling you people I'm sold on the whole adventure riding business

At one point after about 15km of nice dirt gravel road I saw a sign that said "Puhoi - 20km". "Wooooaaaaa cool" me thinks - "I'm doing the famous Puhoi back road" And yep as it turned out i had gone from albany all the way to puhoi via mainly dirt and gravel roads. and boy oh boy what a fun thing to do.

My next bike will be having nobblies on

    some pics...
