Out thru Halswell then thru Gebbies pass back to Chch. Observed stupid passing shit still happening ... once by a group of about twenty non-Jap bikes negotiating their way around a ute with oncoming traffic and then on Gebbies by a Jap sprots bike hurtling past another bike on the apex of a left-hander. A few minutes later we rounded a corner to find a bike lying on the road with it's owner deposited in the grass against a fence and not moving a heck of a lot. The skidmark suggests he misjudged the downhill left hander, locked it up and dumped it. Nice hole in the petrol tank meant it wasn't going much further that day (not that he was in any condition to ride anyway). Due to this particular biker's circumstances I'll not say anything more about what transpired. After about half an hour at the road side and after the cops arrived we moved on at an even more sedate pace than usual and back home for a quiet de-brief.
I am in a state of disquiet.

Cor - good effort!
I finally got out today, thought I'd do an easy ride around the mountain (Raetihi, Waiouru, Rangipo, National Park and home) but also decided to take a side trip up the Tukino road, having been up as far as the 2WD car park in a bus a couple of weeks ago. I nearly made it to the Round the mountain track, but chickened out and spent a very long time getting back down!
Great day for a ride, but only saw about four other bikes. Saw heaps on Thursday gassing up at Raetihi on their way to Puke.

Back on a 250 and riding more than ever.
Since Ive bought an adventure bike, I went adventuring. Not really: just a little trial run to test my new shocks (Ohlins: O for Oarsome) and see what the beastie goes like on shingle.
Answer: better than the Hornet thats for sure. It is a great big lump of a thing, and I am a tiny wee man, so if it starts to go, I will be bailing out, but my trip to Diamond Harbour- Purau- Pigeon Bay then back to town via Devauchelle passed without real incident.
I do live in a very nice part of the world.

came home this morning from levin to palmy via tokomaru/linton, the fun part of the road (between shannon and tokomaru) is no more, the works are in full swing and there is diggers and trucks all over, that and the spada overheated and gave the death wail, the dream is over

went to the classic racing at Pukekohe
was worth it even in the heat,to see and hear the Britten(V Twin four stroke)ridden by andrew stroud and the Konig(square four two stroke)
ridden by Rod Tingate.I honestly dont know which sounded better.

Just joined moto where and hopefully this works.
Rode from Pukekohe to Raglan and then back again. Ended up being far to hot in the afternoon.
Out to the Whangamomona Pub and back Saturday morning. My mate needed to exchange some T-shirts he purchased on the Chateau to Plateau so what better excuse to ride in for a coffee at Whanga.
Popular place as always, we met 10 or so bikes that had stayed at the pub heading for Stratford as we headed in and a few more than that headed in for lunch as we headed out. Warm day again but too early in the day for us to suffer melting tar this time.
Balzybuell & coffeejunkie rode up fr welly .. meet in levin .. rode to Ashhurst, meet up with Rottiguy, Owl & sugilite (who came across from Dannivegas).. did the Apiti, Vinegar hill, Hunterville (lunch) then Halcombe, Feilding loop .. great day, great weather roads in pretty good nick & short stint on state highway 1 where most ppl pulled over for us & a lack of Mrmeant we had a sweet trip really
