You replying to a misquote or did you alter it first? can't find the original quote ... cos from what I saw it was totally different.

From having organised a few of these events ... you can't make that much money with the costs of running the event.

I altered it first as a shorthand way of implying, for those with the IQ to pick up on it, that organisers stand to profit from large street racing events.

Why alter what someone else is saying and imply that he said it ... that is extremely deceitful ... and also underhanded ... something which you may be good at ... but that is I think to others on the site ... dishonest ...

But then again ... it is you .. so should we expect anything different.

IT IS NOT WHAT HE SAID >>> SO WHY ALTER IT!

We all know it's not what he said.

The way the 'quote alteration' thing works for online discussion is, you alter a quote to say something wildly different from what it said, and then either agree or disagree with that.

The intention is not to deceive, although, as I implied just now, the targeted audience is folk with an IQ that exceeds their shoe size. The intention is to clearly and quickly convey a precise difference in opinion.

Being 'deceived' by that approach to online discussion probably indicates that the reader needs to... sharpen up a little.

Hmm. Could it be that you have taken a personal dislike to me as a result of my statements to the SM team regarding the fact that females make bad moderators? Bit of resentment there, perhaps?

Now, let's get back to discussing the implications of that AMCC newsletter, shall we?

You do what you can. You do it the best you can (given time and financial constraints etc). You can do no more than that, and in that regard I rest easy.

But one thing you do get is an honest opinion. It may not be what you wanted to hear, but it is what people are thinking. That really is gold. Few people are brutally honest in real life, no one tells you your arse is fat in that. They will on the Internet.
Yes thats how it happens, there is no excuse though for brazen smart alecs. When I did my military training ( several decades ago when people were generally more disciplined anyway ) I took great delight in seeing the SH.. literally kicked out of those who were lippy and smart alecs.

So much is done out of goodwill in our sport and others but you still get knocked for it.

That could be interpreted as making those who are different conform to the rest - shut up and do what we tell you........or else!

Might work in the forces, doesn't in the civvy world.

No thats not the intent of what I said, I am saying that there are people out there who have no common decency and get a perverse kick out of being smart alecs. Military training is a great vehicle for instilling some personal discipline and decency. And I also disagree that such training is inapplicable to the civvy world.
As it happens look at the brazen disrespect that many boy racers have ( a very real national problem ) Some stiff boot camp training and ( yes ) brutal discipline would knock a lot of these crash test dummies into shape.
    Sorry, off topic.

No disagree. Can't bash them just cos they disagree with those that have been "Brainwashed" Some of those with the "Smartarsed' comments think a bit quicker than the rest of us and hindsight often proves them right.

Nothing wrong with being an individual and being quick of wit. Also nothing wrong with having a sense of decorum and personal discipline and knowing when to button it. Respect authority. Frankly, our society is TOO tolerant and that is why we have so many problems. Bring in compulsory miltary training for all school leavers! No apologies for being right wing and reactionary. Anyway, off topic.
