Im happy to show you how to repair the plastics on your bike, but once ive shown you what to do, you'll have to do it yourself (becuase of the ammount of labour involved - dont worry its easy just abit of work).

Can you post pictures up of the bike please?

I can (probably) show you how to repair the plastics up to the paint stage - and show you work of plastics ive repaired myself.

remember, you can always ride the bike without the plastics (unless they hold stuff on - zip ties work great here) untill the plastics are repaired.
Then I could get a Kb Tshirt, move to Timaru and become a full time crossdressing faggot

    Sounds like a project alright!
I can't believe you haven't posted pics though.
Imma need to do some plastic repairs too eventually, thankfully my main bit of fairing is fibreglass and didn't break at all.

Yes Mark. It's not what you said, but the fact you threw your toys out the pram later when I made a joke relating to such. I have no issue with your comments on the other thread, but to pretend they didn't exist? On a messageboard with a search function? For real?

    That's just silly.

Now, get off my (relatively) serious thread or contribute properly.

I have PM'd my offer of help... as you know.

    That amount sucks...

But with all insurance, I believe you can reduce or increase the excess amount (just have to ask them) which in turn increases or decreases the annual premium.

e.g. If you have very low risk of making a claim, you can change your excess to $2000 for example and pay a very low yearly amount.

This is pretty much gambling, or making an educated bet...

You also have to watch out for those bloody sub clauses before you sign the contract... insurance saleperson probably won't tell you about them...

If you need a top fairing (the one around the headlight) Just Fairings in Hamilton make fibreglass ones for the zzr (I got one).

If you need a copy of the service manual, I have a digital copy of that.

One problem with riding the bike naked without fairings is that the front indicators are integrated into the side fairings, so you would need to rig something up there.

If you do put fairings back on, don't bother looking for secondhand front indicators, unless you have the luck of the irish. They are the first damn thing to get damaged in accidents, and new ones cost $70 odd. (Yeah, the zzr250 was my learner bike, and I needed an indicator either side).

    b) $250 if motorcycle ridden by someone holding less than a full licence.

So yeah, that's how that's been worked out. I choose to view this as the most expensive learning curve EVER.

I took it because it cost $424 for the year, which is much, much cheaper than insurance in the UK and about $200 cheaper than next cheapest quote I got.
    That amount is truely criminal.

    State Insurance.
    Bike valued somewhere between 5-6k.
$45 dollars a month...which is only just over $100 more than you were paying.
$400 flat excess....which makes the whole thing reasonable.

I've had a bin, no contact to other vehicles (although one was the cause) and they paid out no problems.
The guys at Red Baron treated me right, getting the insurance amount based on full stock replacement, but then letting me choose aftermarket parts (mirrors etc...) to help make some other changes I wanted to do.

    That's not toooo bad.
And as I said the fibreglass ones are far more crash resistant.
I went for a long slide down the road and it only left a flat patch where the fibreglass got worn down.

Dont forget to cancell your policy and get 90% of your premium back aye !!!
For a bike of 4 or 5 k in value that access is criminal ! Cheapest aint always best aye !
Good luck with the rebuild !!!
A girlfriend once asked " Why is it you seem to prefer to race, than spend time with me ?"
The answer was simple ! "I'll prolly get bored with racing too, once i've nailed it !"

May I suggest getting in contact with Placidfemme. She has 'fightered her zzr after her bike was stolen and crashed.
PF may have a few ideas for contacts regarding replacement parts.

It's stripped down and sitting in The Strangers garage.

Everything is repairable, the only problem i see at the moment is that the RHS fairing has broken two of the mounting tabs at the top, which would be hard to plastic weld.

If it's a streetfighter Roz wants then it should be relatively easy, just need to make up a front subframe to fit whatever headlight she wants. The front end is the only thing that lets it down in terms of being a fighter - but i know where I can get hold of a ZXR400 front end which could work quite well. All comes down to $$$ at the end of the day though.

When she has made up her mind i'll post a list of parts we need and see if anyone else is willing to help out with sourcing some cheap/affordable parts.
