Re compensation...I'd prolly offer the next set of tyres at cost price too.
Yes as you've quite rightly pointed out shit does happen but it's how it's dealt with that makes or breaks the ongoing 'relationship'.
I think we've all got a good idea of which shop it is and it would surprise me if they didn't come to the party.
Bingo, thats the sort of answer i like, keep the customer happy for repeat custom...

In my opinion one unhappy customer can kill the potential business of 20 new comers, and I want to get paid every week

Well he got the bike back last week, after waiting waiting for the phone call that never came...
welded and resprayed front fairing, new screen, waiting on new clipon and fairing bracket ex japan.
They replaced the Visor, not the helmet...
Paint job looks good from a distance, theres a few dirt/dust spots and a line in the paint from ? on the front, and they didn't spray the inside over the weld line
and they put the fairings on when the paint was still to wet so there is now twisted paint where they screwed the fairing screws and washers in.
I would take it back and have it resprayed myself....

Mirror is still scratched as is the front indicator and rear grab rail..

He got $40 off the front tyre, and if he buys 2 sets of pads gets the 3rd set free,oh and free fitting .wow! like thats a hard job..

Overall i would not be happy with the end result....

    Thanks Cycletread...could of done better.

Unacceptable. Sounds like a half-arsed job.
If it wasn't for a concise set of rules, we might have to resort to common sense!

In light of the outcome of this I wonder if something like this happens we should not simply claim it on our own insurance policy and let the insurance company get recompense from the shop concerned.

Public Liability insurance would cover the damage in this instance, though the excess may have stopped them from wanting to claim. From memory mine has an excess of $500 so it needs to be"worth it" for me to make a claim.

That sucks for your mate! At the least it should be back in the same condition as before. Sounds like they have done a cheapy fix, in a hurry.

Not a good look at all for Cycletreads.

as long as thay fixed everything that thay damaged and threw in a loaner bike i'd be happy.

as dmntd said tho, doing a deal on the tyre they fitted and maybe the next set, that wouldnt put the guy off going back. or your him telling any future customers not to be going there.

Did they do a single seam weld or a triple seam weld..??

A single seam will eventually begin to crack and show a line in the paintwork.

But if it was a substandard fix, then the next time you go to trade in your bike you will lose $$$ on its value.

    That isn't fear on you.
