Yoshi RS3 slip-on in carbon fibre.... $1299 NZ. Up from $820 before Chrissy, hell what an increase!
I ring the Yoshi agents for NZ to have a yarn and to see how this can be. The reply was straight forward, prices have gone up. Far enough. So I go onto the internet and Australia was also $AU1000 and 7 weeks wait! I digged further and after a few quotes from the states I manage to get one sent over for US$389 plus US$70 for freight. That worked out to be NZ$837 all up.
I suppose what I'm on about here is to make sure you have a look around before commiting your hard earned dollar.
The Americans certainly know about customer service, The pipe got sent within 2 days of my payment (Paypal) and then 7 days UPS to NZ. Pretty hard to beat.

Don't forget that NZ dealers have to put 12.5% GST on their sell price. It makes a difference.

the exchange rate sure does suck at the mo for importing stuff from the US.

i could of sold you the off cut from my yoshi, cut 125mm off the end
they look/are way to long on the R1.
Looks and sounds heaps better.

I actually ordered this pipe about 15th Dec 08, NZ$820 inc GST. The dealer came back and said that the Aussie importer didnt have any of the RS3 but had sent a tri-oval one.....and that he was sorry but the price had gone up to $1299 inc GST. And to top it off I had to wait 8 weeks for something I didnt even order!

On another note...

The price increase will be due to NZ's value to the american $....

not worth buying anything american here at the moment.

So now I need to chop it up!!!
I did that to my stock one but even with a biga baffle it still sounded a bit like a tractor. The old stock one (modify'd) does have a bit of go up past 8000rpm though.

they just look wrong being about the same length as stock.
Now the end cap is inline with the front of the indicator.

I ran it with the perferated baffle but with out the fiberglass mating for a while sounded good/loud high in the revs, like crap at idle really tinny/tractor/ hole in the exhaust sounding.

Pulled it apart and put half the mating back in, sounds alot better, a bit deeper.Still could be a bit louder tho......

I always look on ebay for stuff before shopping around here. It takes less effort and is usually much cheaper.

With Yoshimura, Matt Mladin Imports has the monopoly for NZ and Australia, they have the import rights and set the prices. Funnily enough more and more people are catching on to this and buying from the States - which means MMI is getting undersold by the market where the product is being produced - and they have little market share.

I got my carbon fibre RS3's from the US as well ( www.morepoweracing.com/index.htm ) when the dollar was around 80 cents.

Turned up on my doorstep quicker than NZ bike shops could even give me a price.

Yep - I've bought yoshis from the states on 2 occasions. They have no worries about international trade and it normally takes just a few days to arrive. Ebay is worth a look for comparitive prices.
