Thanks for that... The 08 blade has been my "next" bike for a while. I don't think I could resist that new R1 if I rode it. Its fantastic.

People are going to buy the new R1 purely for the sound

    I know I'm tempted even though I don't need/want the extra 400cc.

The 09 R1 is a nice bike, sounds niceeeee, if you like posing for street cred its the first choice, however id like to see what problems arise in the long run as every other yammy litre bike ive owned has had them, time will tell.

Gah! Why do yamaha make the R1 so ugly!?!?

I believe it when people say they are an awesome bike, but it looks so hideous.

Im considering it. The only thing is, with alot of power consentrated at low rpm, the midrange and the top end are better with blade and gixa.

Only if my blade wasnt burning oil...

    Seriously???

Since their introduction, I always thought they were the sexiest of the Jap sports bikes.

I thought it was ugly too. Its growing to be tho. The wall-e eyes I can ignore, lack of fairing down the back I can overlook, put the cans is a must-replace item.

R1 sounds awesome! I'd have one for the sheer sound of it alone. The "CBR rides like a 600" quote sounds about right to me - smooth power delivery, no surprises. R1's, from my experience, have always had the gruntier, grab-you-by-the-throat-and-hurl-you-into-the-horizon kind of power...

How will it sound with some aftermarket pipes? Growl!
    Keep it rubber-side down...

The replacement is burning oil as well.

I personally wouldn't take any advice from those guys...meerly average riders that have to dam near climb all the way off the bike to get there knees down...not qualified to make a judgement.

Ride one your self...see what you think...or wait for wayne garnder to test one and read about it in that aussie mag [can't remember the name of it]..

Oh...and they can't ride within their own lane around corners...useless pricks!
