Now you're just getting greedy - the CT is too much for one man not enough for two...

I think Jatz should bring the mighty CT over for the King Country ride!

Reckon he's dreaming on the price. The later model one with 50,000km less went through a dealer at 6K - which means this one should be more like 3.5K not 6.5K.

Um nice maths? Spose it comes down to condition and history, the last @ for sale was in worse condition for starters. If you know @'s kms aint a big factor. Time wiil tell, and people are definitely interested.

Qué? I understood the one at thunderbike was a minter, much newer and much lower kays. If a dealer got 6, privately it would only fetch 4-ish. Then this one is older (nearly 20 years!) with 2-3 times the mileage...

    Colin

I believe the ad stated that it had been offroaded a bit and had a few battlescars from this, or words to that effect. It was a 1996 so 6 years newer but still 13 years old. Had less extras and worn condition.

read somewhere in here that the thunderbike dealer said reckons he couldve got another grand. So really I think the RD04 ts priced almost right, but thats just my opinion, others may disagree. Cheers

Its not bad but probably should be mid 5's, I wouldn't compare it to a RD07 as the RD04 is better offroad and alot of people will be looking for an RD04 over the RD07.
I sold mine for mid 5's and it had panniers, Arrow pipe and was the hard to get black one, I probably sold it too cheap as I had a bidding war going on but it went to a good home so I was happy, I can't remember how much my mate got for his newer RD07 but it wasn't a hell of alot more than my RD04.

If your buying an @ I wouldn't recommend the RD07, not that it is a bad bike as it still was way better offroad than the BMW my mate sold to get the RD07 but the RD04 feels totally different when you ride them back to back, the RD07 feels small and kind of flimsy, just a little to much road not enough offroad.

Then again you could just get a KTM and the @ will become an fond memory

    An 1100, 19 front vs 21 front @ wins.

Even tho they are close in weight the @ seemed to carry its weight better offroad and when it got loose the 21 was alot easier.

Fair enough, factor that in and even by my conservative maths you're talking 5-ish. 6 gives some room to negotiate.

Well, without wanting to jinx the whole deal, the bike should be here on Tuesday morning c/o Motorcycle movers.

Been bikeless too long already (haha) so it will be good to learn to ride again on the @. I will certainly be needing to change my riding style me thinks, but looking forward to a nicer ride on the road than the DR-Z offered, along with double the range and the ability to carry a bit of gear! might travel the '10 DB1K in a bit more comfort and style next year!

Think I'll miss the trail bike side of things a bit, but hey there's always plenty of DR-Z's around, not so many of these though.

Two thumbs up to XRV Rider aka Blair for his assistance so far in bringing this bike to the mainland - thanks Blair, will keep you posted.

Oh, and if anyone comes upon a cheapish TA tank, drop me a pm.

We should come home from our adventures having faced their perils and uncertainties, endured their discomfort and beaten the odds, with a sly acknowledgment and revitalised solidarity of character.
