Mate the army bored the shit out of me...sorry to say. Despite being Army Engineers and a Cat A dml instr and a constr diving supervisor the "good shit" was few and far between. Well it wasnt that bad, but still. anyways I get more of a kick riding adv on the weekend than I do remniscing on warry good times. Guess it comes down to training for warfare vs making it through reality - carrying enough gas, making timings, enough food, carrying the right gear. A lot of the same principles apply.
Anyway, 11 years of bitterness off my chest
, no complaints about joining the services, and to be fair it would be a fricken good adventure for someone coming in off the street. In fact I'm now territorials myself so good pocket money on the weekends, good break from the daily 9-5 and good opportunities along the way. Infact, anyone in Nelson or Blenheim PM me for a bit of a yippee with some rifles next weekend.
There are two kinds of adventurers: those who go truly hoping to find adventure and those who go secretly hoping they won't. We should come home from our adventures having faced their perils and uncertainties, endured their discomfort and beaten the odds, with a sly acknowledgment and revitalised solidarity of character.
