That thing's a beast. Fortunately dropped it on exactly the same side as Hanne did and rather slow-mo-like so no damage suffered. I think Ross may dismember me the next time he sees me. DDD:

:P, go to one of the riding places, pay the extra bit, get the training on just what your maent to do during the test then sit it.

Poor VTR, being dropped twice since it left Ross's care

Everyone thinks they can't and then you just try it and you suddenly can.

Nyeh! It's fine. (I retrieved it tonight - very shiny and well cared for by Squiggs)

It's why you should get a naked bike first. They do low/zero speed drops with zero-minimal damage - unlike anything with tupperware

yeah, its true, dropped the xs once or twice, and it was probably in better condition afterwards. Well, except that the tank leaked if it was lying on its right hand side

The suck thing about having electrical problems is that nobody wants to help you.
    They all stay away haha.

    electrical problems are the worst

meanwhile it turns out my hard drive is well and truly dead. apparently seagate made a bad batch of drives with didgy firmware. long story short, my drive is now an expensive paperweight safely containing a lot of data i'd rather like to have access to, and my server, which contains all the really important backups i have, is going to fail soon unless i get around to giving it a firmware upgrade after backing it all up to my- oh wait that's right my desktop hard drive is dead so i need to recover that first

fortunately, seagate offer a free data recovery service to affected customers (and i'm still within warranty too), but i'm yet to find out how long it will take as their call centre is open only during business hours:dry:

atleast skynet is handling it's newfound role well, hooked up to a monitor, mouse, keyboard etc until the desktop machine is up and running again

My mum's hard drive died completely once, but it was within like a week of getting it so she didn't lose anything too important. If my hard drive well and truly died...? Oh my god that would suck. I need an external hard drive soon, I'm almost out of space

I had RAID once. That didn't work too well.

Your raid was destined to fail from day 1.
A: It was a software RAID
B: It was using linux, which requires you to be running linux in order to access it
C: you were using a big set of mismatched hard drives that were potentially dodgy
D: you were using a rigged up secondary power supply.
