Was the bike set on fire deliberately and used in some type of mobile arson crime?
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

The owner is a policeman in Northern Ireland and someone booby-trapped his bike in an attempt to do 'im in.

Bike and rider set on fire, then ridden into an oil depot as an act of terrorism?

Close enough. (and I have to do some work)

His bike was stolen by the IRA.

It was rigged with explosives and parked outside a pub frequented by RUC (British police) in Northern Ireland.

It was detonated as they left the pub.

Luckly nobody was hurt - but it was an attempt to kill several.

    Green bling awarded!

Thanks. Although it's not the kind of thing one wants to be right about.
I've heard of car-bombs but never motorbike bombs. I wonder why they used a bike - surely you couldn't pack enough explosives in there to do the intended damage?

Being an unknown vehicle parked outside a known haunt of the gubbermints soldiers, probably less likely to 'cause less suspicion that way.
