    I'm a dirty dirty biker...

I was going to post this photo up as a competition like ... guess what this bike related liquid is but then thought after people guess ... 1: used engine oil, 2: used brake fluid and then 3: odd coloured radiator water there wouldn't be much more of the thread ... so I'll tells ya what it is.

It is a glass of the water that remained after I washed my bike jacket this afternoon! And they say part of the joy of biking is getting that blast of fresh air in your face. Not so sure now.

This was 1 year's dirt (I'm picking mostly exhaust particulate) ... probably about 12,000 kms worth.

Oh, in case anyone is interested, my cleaner of choice is Nikwax 'Tech Wash'.

Yukky you are a grubby boy rider
I washed my gear on Thursday but did it the washing machine so I didn't have to look at the dirty water.

It’s diametrically opposed to the sanitised existence of the Lemmings around me in the Dilbert Cartoon hell I live in; it’s life at full volume, perfect colour with high resolution and 10,000 watts of amplification.

I washed my pants the following day and oddly, the water was only half as dirty with them.

Oh yeah. My scarf pollutes the water pretty well when I wash it. Good filter I guess. Not going to wear a scarf this winter though. Going to use my balaclave instead.

Been there, done that (several times). There's a lot of crap in the air when you're communtering, and I bet you it's mainly due to the crappy fuel we've got - it's got lots of toluene and xylene in it, and is much more sooty than that 'evil' leaded fuel was.
That and the poorly maintained diesel vehicles on our roads.
I've got a blood donor key ring (red and white rubbery stuff), and it gets grubby within a few days of being washed.
I've got smart though: all my gear (apart from the hi-viz bib on my jacket) is now black.
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....

Do Harley riders clean their gear? I'm sure some look like they sleep in their gear.
