Whoever inherits the poisoned chalice best have a solid constitution to be able to put up with obstruction and interference and a culture of undermining. I would put my name forward on the basis of being prepared to stand up to such nonsense and respond in kind but 1) theres a conflict of interest and 2) To do in excess of 1000 hours per year unpaid ( with unneccessary stress ) is nuts.
Scrivy gets my vote for anything, but sounds like there may not be much in it for him with all the sacrifices. What does the role entail, I think I'm a bit out of touch. Could there be a salary added?
Sounds like you'd make an excellent dictator RT. Hehe. I think I would make a great dictator too.
I wonder what Helen's doing at the moment?....................![]()
Is it unpaid!!?? Wow that really does say alot for PS! Id rather pay an extra licence fee and make it a professional position.....
No doubt people wouldnt want the extra fee but there prob the ones that complain about the current situation, go figure!
Not a brass razoo mate!!!
Maybe he should get a 10-20% cut of the sponsorship he brings to the championships? Even then it still wouldn't pay for his costs.
Our NZ national motorcycle racing is in dire straights at the moment. I still personally feel that we should have a symposium or conference just for the road race sector. All positive associated persons should be present, and all allowed to voice their concerns/ideas. A way forward for this season can be found, and acted upon.
Again, I personally feel that the National series for this year only (due to obvious power struggles/politics/bullshite) should be run independently of MNZ for this year only. Formulate a strategy, and then roll it over for subsequent years.
I hate politics - it destroys motivated people.
We can get out of this. But it will take more than a few hours at MNZ's conference to sort it out.
LOTS of communication from affected groups (organisers, racers, promoters, volunteers, MNZ, team owners, industry and supppliers) is needed. Egos will/may be shattered, but if it takes a few people to pull their heads in, to make a prestigeous series again, then I'm all for it!!
I do not want to tell friends in 5 years that I could have made a difference, I would like to help now.
We all love our sport. I'd be guttered if I couldn't have my stress relief on the weekends!!
What's more, I'd be guttered if I couldn't sit trackside to watch some of the most awesome racing there is in NZ!!
We simply just cannot afford to lose what we have left.
We do need to turn this 'lost' ship around.
Scrivy
Is it still beastiality if ya fuck a frozen chicken??
Hi Guys
I would like to voice my opinion on the matter of Paul S not standing for commissioner. As a member of the close team that ran the series , I am qualified to let you know what shit has happened over the last few months.
However first things first , Paul may have decided to not run. But what you the riders have to realise that it is not just Paul you may have lost but also the volunteer team behind the scenes , you know the people , the ones who put all the flags up and scaffolds and signage for the sponsors and TV , run the internet site for the champs which by the way is no more , which by the way gave coverage to get over 60,ooo individual users and over 1,500,000 hits from March 08 to March 09.the same people who organise the prize givings , commentate , feed the riders on race day morning and do countless other things that many riders take for granted. I'm not talking about the clubs , I'm talking about the series people.
Remember riders we did all the stuff to the best that we could do for amateurs , so you guys could get your fun out on the track , weekend in and weekend out.
We got bagged for the low turn outs at the nationals , we got bagged at Paeroa and on the radio by a well know commentator , we got bagged by the governing body , we got bagged for the lack of TV coverage .
You name it we got bagged for it. And yet we the team , Paul Stewart , Jim T , Jim D , Ian , Guy , Neil , Paul and Heather Seranake and Lynda Blair did it because we loved the sport , but to be honest , it is a job anyone can do , well isn't it? . Well now your chance to find out , someone pick up the batten and lets see what you can do.
The series is not run by one person and it doesn't really matter about how much money is being spent or how much talk is talked , the series does not happen without a group of people who are prepared to do it because they love the sport first for no wages other than some expenses in some cases.
By the way scrivy , thanks for the positive comments. However this needs to be fixed soon. A conference meeting with an agenda(as in timetable) not a talk fest. I behind anything that is positive for the future.
Ian
Any support i can provide mate...
Hey Brad
How about say May 9-10 in Wellington. Venue to be annouced. Anyone else ready to do this?(by the way for nothing) you have to meet all expenses yourself. This is nothing to do with MNZ , this is just for people who wish to continue a successful series. As scrivy said maybe in the first year not the official championships.
We want dates and Circuits , Class ideas and more.. This won't be a talk fest it is has to try and achieve something.
Ian
