Relax Officer Pig, It was just a wheelie
Not called for scummy - in fact I know they wouldn't do that, they morph into responsibility itself when required, read the posts from when Warr had his accident
reading the news report; who said he even knew the rider that died?, how long after the accident did the Police turn up.
I hung around at an accident years ago, first on the scene when a car cut a bike off and he tee boned it. Stayed long enough to help the ambulance people treat the rider, put him in the ambulance, even helped clear the road, the police had turned up at some stage and were taking charge of things.
I left
Next thing I know they were asking for witnesses - no one had taken my name, and I was a bit too young to realise that I was considered a witness. As it happened the car was stolen, driver ran off and the rider died in the ambulance.
So who knows what the situation was, or who the other rider was, or if the police spoke to him and he left before they got proper details? who knows - I'll reserve my judgment
Lifes Just one big ride - buckle up or hang on
wait n see....too little info to make judgements, although the busybodies thrive on this sort of thing![]()

That must be so. Other wise, how would anyone know that there *was* a second motorcyclist?
After all, if the second rider left *before* the ambulance arrived, they'd have no way of knowing that he existed, would they? And the injured rider would hardly be in condition to tell them.
So the second rider must have been there when the ambo arrived. And then left before the police arrived.
Which makes sense. In my experience the police take far far longer to reach an accident scene than other services. The second rider summoned help, did what he could, then, once the ambo was there and the injured person in professional hands left (maybe hung round a bit, decided that noone else was going to put in an appearance). Either because he was unconnected with the injured rider (I have often ridden many miles with another rider who I did not know ) and figured he would just be in the way ; or to carry the bad news of his mate's accident to family.

I really hope the second person took off to get help.A motorcyclist died last night after skidding off a road and into a stream.
The crash happened on Wiremu Road, near Okato, 26km southwest of New Plymouth, just before midnight and it left a 28-year-old man dead.
Police said the victim was found shortly after the incident and ambulance staff tried to save his life, but to no avail.
A second motorcyclist, who was with the victim at the time of the accident, is believed to have left the scene shortly after the crash. Police want to speak to that person as soon as possible.
They also want to hear from anyone who may have been passed by one or more motorcyclists north bound on or near Wiremu Road before midnight.
The name of the dead man will not be released until next of kin have been told. Anyone with information about the incident should contact Opunake police on 06 761 6051.

Why would he? Help had arrived. He left after the ambo arrived and before the coppers turned up.
Who says he was even riding with the dude? He might be the anonymous good samaritan who rang emergency services upon finding the body and left once the ambo turned up.
Mind you, I'm leaping to conclusions.
It has already been posted and done to death in that thread too.
If a man is alone in the woods and there isn't a woke Hollywood around to call him racist, is he still white?
I would think it's common knowlege to wait for the police, concidering the serious nature of the crash. Mind you the story doesn't tell go into much detail.

How about another what if? A motorcyclist rides past a crash scene being attended by an ambulance and stops to investigate. Upon being told that the motoryclist is dead, leaves. Should we demand that every car that drove past the scene wait for the police?
As I said, I'm leaping to conclusions, based on minimal imformation gleaned from a newspaper report.
So are you.

Gutted to hear, Sorry for the family of the person involved.
I agree,
Our thoughts go out to those involved and I think it is way to early to judge or assume things.
Wake up call for all of us though as none of us or our mates are invincible.
Hopefully someone on this site will know a relative and be able to fill in the blanks for us.
The number of reported road deaths seems to be very high and higher than this time last year.
I hope I am wrong with my guestimation.
