It was a good ride. My homing pigeon sense of direction led us to the desired locations everytime....

    Not!
Gotta get that GPS mounted on the bike this weekend. My workmates didn't appreciate the morocan chicken pizza this morning

Hey who went where today? I take it Nordie went to top of Maunga? Topo & Jatz where'd you go after maunga?

Been reading the touraeag rally thread on Adv rider & felt really inspired to get somewhere dry & rocky

I looked at the day & thought yeah gotta get out for a ride before the rain so went up Sharlands & blatted around nearly every firebreak I could handle - & some I couldn't

Gonzo performed admirably forgetting he's a road touring bike getting air over the drainage humps & powered up & down rocky tracks. A great day out

Jatz and i spent the morning rarking around central rd,

then went for a look up Mt Duppa and on to pelorus for a coffee and some R&M on Jatz'z front tube.

Started drizzling on the way up the munga with the nelson side getting rather slippery on the way down, should be good tromorrow once some it's soaked a bit more rain up so the tires can get some bite

    Will post vid later.

Nah. No Lamb Valley for me. My XR is going to be there though
Doing the 3hr Cross country next weekend though

I've got to change the DR rear wheel over to the spare that I've put an MT21 on and make some shorter spacers for the fork springs out of PVC tube.

Linkin Park - Points of authority, of the Hybrid Theory album.

The camera is just my regular "still" digital camera mounted through the peak of my helmet, need to make a spacer to raise the angle so that i don't take so much footage of the road in front of the bike.

No kidding. I went back up sharlands to try out my gps mount & practise some route tracking. went along Thomas rd looking for the drop down to the skidder site by the start of wiggles & ended up at that dead end you took me to the other week. Nothing but fog...Luckily the gps showed me the way I wanted to go. I'm a believer now

BTW I don't think they've trapped all the pests along the maunga so watch that kiwi

Me and a mate got stuck when we were 4WD'ing up by Mt Ruapehu. Got both wagons stuck in daylight in all that volcanic sandy stuff, then by 11pm when we finally got unstuck it was that dark and foggy that we couldn't re-trace our tyre tracks. Thought it was an overkill having the GPS on during the day, but it was the only thing that got us out that night - re-tracing our route on maximum zoom, reversing and correcting where we found ourselves straying off the beaten track.
There are two kinds of adventurers: those who go truly hoping to find adventure and those who go secretly hoping they won't. We should come home from our adventures having faced their perils and uncertainties, endured their discomfort and beaten the odds, with a sly acknowledgment and revitalised solidarity of character.
