The new forks and brakes are for the 2007 model.

The Z750 engine is a sleeved down Z1000 engine.

All those forks and the new radiator shroud do is add weight to a bike that could stand to lose some.

Does look rather spiffing though. The original forks look a bit thin

Reckon they're a good upgrade from my RG for use on the road? Or would it be too big a step up?

So theoretically, you could put USD's off a late model ZX-10R on your 750, repaint it and have yourself a 2007 spec machine?

Does it not get the new Aluminium frame?

Looks better than it does in orange too.

Oh, look. I said "orange". Orange. Orange orange orange orange orange.

Perfect step up. The engine power delivery is almost completely linear, the handling is very light and easy at all speeds, and with the changes I've made to my bike I have no trouble hanging with sprotsbikes.

I would suggest that the Z750 is probably a better step from the "250" learners bracket than a GSXR600 for instance. It has all the benefits of a middleweight combined with good handling, nice looks (if you like that sort of thing), and a comfy riding position that leaves you free to concentrate on riding instead of wondering when your truss is going to give way.

Lots of people do that, but the ZX10R internals need lots of work to work properly on a Z750 or Z1000. Most people transplant a Z1000 front end to the Z750s, but then no disrespect to Z1000 owners the forks on those things are odd. They get squishy when pushed and are both firm and bouncy at the same time. Oversprung and under damped.

The Z750 is a budget bike, like a Bandit. Doing that would make its production costs exactly the same as a Z1000, which would mean it would cost the same, and then what would be the point?

From what I've been finding out the VTR1000SP1's power is linear and the handling is very light. Maybe that might be a good upgrade too

Of course I'm dreaming, I won't have the money unless I sell my soul to the devil, which will first require a lot of convincing to get it back from my parents

Yebbut yebbut yebbut isn't this precisely the situation with the current gen Z750 and Z1000? Don't they sleeve the engine; change the shocks (for those, pardon the pun, shockers); get rid of those ghey exhausts and call it a Z750? Why wouldn't they just pull the same trick again?

    2004 Z750 for a comparo.

Looks like fork upgrades, red rocker box, and a sidecover change to me.

No they don't; the frame is different and cheaper to produce, the suspension (crap) and wheels (heavy) are diifferent, the instruments are different, the ECU is different (and cheaper), the bars are different, the seat and rear panels are different ( and mostly off other models except for the Z750S, but they drop the hugger to make up the difference), the lights are different, the alternator is different (and cheaper), etc, etc, etc.

Hmm. Wow. OK. The 2004 and 2007 models do look identical side by side, eh? Different bits of plastic, front forks and a radiator but that's about it.

That would be a hoot! I lost 8kg going to the Micron though. Which means I can eat 8kg of pies to make up for it. If I put those on I'd have to (gasp!) lose weight!
