New metzeler m3's

i was wondering if any one has any first hand experience with the new m3's.
they are supposed to be the latest and greatest, my bike shop is offering a special deal at $500 a set, i'm tempted but worried how long they will last on my 2001 gsx 1200. they say about 5000ks depending on the bike or how it;s riden.
any feed back would be interesting, cheers guys.

Pm Sensei as he has been trialing them on his GSXR100. I think he has about 2k on them so far with no problems & increased grip over the Z6 M1 combo.

no one i know has had any trouble with them. However Sixpack swapped them off for a set of Michelins (pilot power/sport?) as he had them spinning up. Best you send him a PM for a better explanation.

All the sports 600's riding them have said they are the shit. Also bungy at cycletreads had them on his ZX10 and didnt have anything bad to say about them and as far as i know he rides like a right nutter.

Have them on the Busa.. Done around 500k with no issues and considering the mods I have done, they have held up reasonably well. Have heard of mixed reports from other people regarding wet/weather riding. Some say they break loose whilst others dont seem to have the problem.

Also spoke to a guy that took a set around Taupo and swears by them. I think its one of those times where you will make your own mind up

I dont expect them to last that long, but then, I didnt buy them for that reason

I'm just about to 12,000km on mine. They were awesome till about 10,000km, now they're not feeling so good :P

Held their shape very well considering I commute daily on them, plus a track day (maybe a second next week).

I have no complain of product.

I think they rated 4th equal in the tyre test done by superbike magazine last month. 1st was no surprise with Michelin Pilot Powers.

There's been a couple of comments about wet grip when cold. But 2 out of hundreds sold isn't bad. It could be that they were expecting a bit much from sports rubber.

well it looks like pilot powers for me too, as there is not a lot of diff in prices, so may as well go with what gets the best feedback from riders.

Is that 12000 Km for real?
I have M1's on my CB and the rear has 7000 Km on it and is almost done.
I ride like a nana, and do 25 - 30 Km daily to work and back then go for a 2 -3 hr ride in the country couple times a month.

you impressed enough to replace the M3's with another set?

I can vouch for that. I got 12000km before running out of tread on the front. I've also had M1's and got similar life to what you got. About 60% of my riding is commuting and the rest is weekend blats and trackdays.

As Devil said they are very sticky initially but towards the end of life, last 1-2000k for me they were feeling a little hard and slippy.

I'm trying a set of Pilot Powers now but may consider trying another set.

For general commuting duties they are not that great, and watch them in cold/wet conditions my set spun up several times in the dry in the middle of winter....seemed impossible to get enough heat into them.
If your using them for a scratch with plenty of heat in them then yeah a very good tyre, especially the front.

I run them on the K1200S, impressed with them so far.

Feel they are better after a track day, only have about 800 kms on the rear.

I ate an M1 in 3600 kms on the rear.

Nice and sticky.

You were lucky to get that many Titanium with big HP . Still think the Z6 for a rear is one of the best alround tyres for mileage & grip wet or dry . I don't know how many I'll get out of the M3 but will be going back to the Z6 once finished . Have been nothing but impressed with the M1 front have done 4 of them now & get over 14000ks with them , so for predictable feed back with excellent grip they do me .
