I love this thread!
I was chuckling away to myself as I read the intro and wondered if anyone would get the joke. I see that only a few have, what a shame. Read a little more widely people.
Great effort to Virago, bling awarded.

I can help out with this part... I dont want to ride a bike that sounds like a tractor...
I can help with this part too... the green stuff is the scenery... it is generally the stuff we hit when we over cook the corner, which both you and i have done a few times... Hence we are even better than cruiser riders, not only do we look at the scenery... we get up close and personal with it too...
But other than that completely agree with MR...
See Robert Taylor for any Ohlins requirements www.northwest.co.nzThanks Colemans SuzukiThanks AMCCI use DID Chains and Akrapovic Exhausts
Eat my burnout smoke you slow tractor driver.
Lol I've gotten 'personal' with my fair share of scenery mate.
Yea it's a joke. When cruiser riders do it, it's a joke, yet when you spartsboik riders do it it's all seriousness. Except to us cruiser riders who just laugh as we pass you buy while you are parked up on the side of the road stretching your nuts out from being compressed by your fuel tank.

......and you won't have to look too far.....
At one stage half the new threads in the cruiser section were actually cruiser-bashing. And the remaining threads were riddled with further pathetic put-downs.
Putting up a mirror thread as a P/T has been........educational.......![]()
Can I believe the magic of your size... (The Shirelles)
Apart from trackdays, I can't say I really dig the big sportsbike thing myself. However, having ridden a "crusier" around Scotland for a few days I can't say I really enjoyed riding a bike, sat like a horizontal parachutist. The $hit braking thing didn't inspire me with joy either.
Just cos peeps ride bikes with fantastic braking and handling doesn't mean they all ride about at 10/10ths.
ps. If I get another dual sports bike will my baws get bigger?
What does the fact that he's part time employed have to do with the price of fish at food town?
Personaly I suspect he's extracting urine - assistance here on a more serious note..I ride a VTR250 (don't laugh) it's certainly no cruiser but wothout fairings it's not a sports bike either - strictly speaking it's a naked bike (reason I bought it is the torque and the ease of handling).
Does this mean when sportsbikes have a go at cruisers and cruisers have a go at sportsbikes that I can't play?
In space, no one can smell your fart.
The point is its not what's up with any sort of bike rider but in the end you should ride what you damn-well want to and be the kind of rider you want to be. What tickles your fancy so to speak.
My VFR isn't a sports bike, its meant to be a sport tourer (though of course when VFR's were introduced in 1986 they were seen as a sports bike - how times change - lighter, faster etc) and I love riding it, but I'm a dirt biker from way back and am too used to the sit up riding style to ever feel comfortable on a bike with the clip ons mounted below the triple clamp so wouldn't buy one. As for cruisers I'd never even dream of buying one, but I don't care I'll buy what I want. So I like trail bikes and I love the VFR and I respect any one that rides no matter what they ride, even Harleys eh!
So buy what you want and ignore any derogatory comments in this thread and ride until it hurts and then ride some more.
It just like chicks I like them blonde, I like them dark, I like them ginger and I like them brunette - I don't mind as long as they are nice to me.
So this thread would be like asking what's up with blonde riders? Then we'd hear they are too dumb to ride blah blah blah so how can those guys do it. The point is they are no doubt loving what they ride and really feeling good - end of story.
Cheers
Merv

" Life is not a rehearsal, it's as happy or miserable as you want to make it"
Well Mr Virago - it's like this. (nice trawl btw.)
Some sportsbike riders like the pure unadulterated acceleration and maximum terminal velocity in all situations.
SOME sportsbike riders get a feeling of self worth from being on the fastest machine. For them the Zeitgeist and their Zen lie in its poetential and they even become connected with their heroes from the tracks as they ride along.
Some are attracted to the alluring lines of the GP style machine or the array of brightly coloured adorments that they can bling upon it and themselves.
Some have never tried anything else.
I understand all these things - I can write objectively (and passionately) about them (sprotsbikes) - but I don't embrace them for myself.
There are other facets of motorcycling that I rate more important than what sportsbikes do. Fit tall people, carry a passenger in comfort eg.
What shits me is that certain type of rider who can only see their type or style of bike and feel obliged to deride the choices of others as if the circumstances of their choice relates to the size of the tacklebox.
In the case of sportsbikes, you have to make your own mind up if being folded up in a GP crouch for city riding is compensated for by the way it goes down Hwy 22.
There is no perfect bike for 'everyone', I'm riding one that's pretty close to perfect for me - and its the complete opposite of a sports bike - and your bike.
However the only Suzuki i ever seriously bag is Dovers - and that's not about the bike.
I can see where he's coming from. Very few sprotbikers have inspired respect from me on rides for their sheer corner speed. Sure, plenty have blasted past on the straights, but to leave me standing on a gravel strewn twisty back road with wet patches on corner apexes is truly awe-inspiring. Thanks for the show TL rider.
Then there were the nutters on the Hokianga ride, the guy on the Falco and, dare I say it, the looney on the 1st Gen bandit.
Too many sprotbikers just rely on straightline acceleration, which isn't really what bikes are about.
Still, whatever floats your boat I guess.
Speed doesn't kill people.
Stupidity kills people.
