It's at the bottom end of Lake Taupo; as you meet the lake coming from south on SH1 there's a 'park up' area on the left.
We'd been to Palmy, our first decent ride since being back in NZ, and not being 'bike fit', we were pretty knackered...

Is the first one Lake Tarawera? or at least has Tarawera in the background... The 2nd one is Lake Rotorua maybe the golf course at the end of the lake front where all the sulphur is?... And in sure the third is Lake Rotorua with Mokoia Island in the middle. I could be (most likely) wrong, but humour me eh Jon!
