    My boots are pants.........

........or are they.....well lets see, they are two year old SIDIs, worn everyday more or less for my commute back and forth from work only, I never tuck jeans/leathers into them or use them for anything but their intended designed use.

When they were a year + old (and out of warranty) one of the zips broke.
I dropped them back to the shop I got them from (who shall remain nameless) and they returned them to the suppliers who fixed them and said "that if they broke again, to send them back for repair..no problem".

Skip forward to a year from then and zip NO.2 fails...so I send them back again, and I even say I will pay for any factory repairs required.

Different story now, "they are not interested in pursuing the matter any further" and its now up to me to get them fixed.

So I"m fine with that, I wouldn't have returned them in the first place if they had not said to.

Then I thought what would have happened if I had crashed and the zips had failed , leaving my feet exposed, is it fair to say just because they are 2 years old they are now useless and redundant (any new repairs not withstanding).

These are a $500 pair of boots to replace, I was hoping to get more life out of them then this...is that unreasonable?

The thing is I really like the boots in every other aspect and would have bought another pair.....but now, forget about it, its any other boots apart from SIDI in the future, and the new alpinestars look bloody good.

Is this just another example of our throw away culture???

Does this sort of argument (using Fair Trading Act/Consumer Guarantees Act) revolve around whether two years is a reasonable time for this product to last?

Have had SIDI lorica waterproof boots for 3 or 4 years now and they're as good as new despite being generally abused.

One of the main reasons I bought them originally was they tested very well in the long term product tests in the bike press, and as I said for the most part they were a good buy, let down by sub standard components.

I would have expected to get 3-4 years worth of use out of them myself depending on their use but I reckon to fail so fundamentally is inexcusable, the more I think about the chances of them being pulled off by a average speed spill and leaving my feet completely exposed the more pissed off I get.

    #cough# military boots #cough#

I got mine from kiwi disposals, british assault boots. Ive had them for 6 months and there holding up sweet. The soles are a bit odd though, the kinda mould to your feet and it feels like your wearing a large pair of (sturdy, steel capped) socks. Very comfortable though...

I read your first post, and agree with you that its broken and it should be fixed, lifetime seems about right (boots get a kicking for there life)

But then I read the bottom bit. And two words came to mind. Saftey noob. Ive crashed off road enough times to know that my feet are the last thing that get hurt, Not being a dick on the road I havnted had the experiance for tarseal but I think as long as the boot/shoe stays on your feet will be fine. Stop wasting 500 bucks on being a poser.
Then I could get a Kb Tshirt, move to Timaru and become a full time crossdressing faggot

I got a pair of SIDI's earlier this year (maybe 5 months) and they are as tight as, I was hoping they would loosen up after they got wet but no!
They are as tight as hell in the icy weather too, can only wear thin, thin socks.
Otherwise they have been satisfactory so far. here's hoping! John.

Crash a bit on the road, or talk to people who have... ankles have a habit of going snap, good boots are not pose at all.

On my 3rd pair of Sidis. Normally after a year or so, I break the top off the LH zip, but its still usable.

Good boots ARE worth it - I reckon my foot would have been totally rooted after my last little "moment", instead of just badly sprained and swollen.

i'll see it when I belive it, I havnt spoken to someone who's crashed with wearing cheap boots (ones that cover the ankle for obvious reasons)

When I get my next bike and take it to the track i'll crash and wear my cheap boots and we will see.....

renegade...i got hit by a car last year, and my left ankle would have been shattered but for my boots...not sidis, but leather, steel cap cowboy boots. if id been in sneakers, that ankle would have been stuffed as much as my knees are.

i wear these boots when im going out of town...rather look like a "poser" than walk with a limp and cane the rest of my life.
