Slightly more of a rant than anything & the delete button is in over use mode due to the drunken blur of the screen![]()
Anyhow spent most of this morning chasing a bug/gremlin out of the ZXR that had been biting at me for ages
As a rule ZXRs are pigs at idle and my old girls more so since being rebuilt with what I chucked into it![]()
Well recently it's gracefully adorned the hair-trigger choke & an idle that if said boo to, crapped itself & either died or visited the 3k mark. This didn't bother me much as 200m any direction from my gate is 100kmh zone.
This morning I had planned out to attack everything & sort the bitch out, so wheeled her out, stripped off panels etc & got to it. popped the carbs off for a strip & clean, gapped the plugs, checked/cleaned the air filter, checked all the connections & so on.
did the carbs and refitted them, just for curiousity checked the spark on the plugs, then slammed on the balancer to dial the carbs in. Got her running sweet as a nut then all turned to shit! :slap:
had her idling nice n sweet stopped her to remove the balancer pipes & fit the tower caps, grabbed a handful of the main wiring harness (tape wrapped & inside concertina sheath) and gave it a wriggle.
Went to fire her up again & farkin nothing!the starter motor is spinning things over per the norm, but no bang into life
, popped each lead off & checked with a tester & absolutely no juice!
Chucked the cover over it in disgust and walked away, otherwise I'd have taken to it with my boot![]()
been at the pub tonight to drown the agression, but got to strip the wiring back tomorrow/later today to trace the friggin problem
Lesson: Don't fiddle with whats working, passive thought at least it happened at home & not out in the wop wops!
Still frigging annoying thoughbugger it all!
