    Familiar sound in the air!

I am sitting here reading through KB and there is a familiar sound emanating from the area of the local hotel. Dubh-a-duhb-a-dubh-a-dubh in multiples undefinable.
Yep, seems there is a Hog gathering going on over there for this week end, think I will go and have a look! Cheers John.

There was a lot of that noise around Dunedin this morning before I came home - just take the exhaust off your T/A john and then bugger up the tuning and you'll get it sounding like that??

Went and had a look over at the pub.

There is a gathering of HOG'S from Christchurch to Dunedin at Otematata this week end and they are just starting to arrive in numbers now.

Nice fine weather but the wind is quite strong, just enough to put a bit of a damper on the riding but it still looks like they are going to have fun.

Pics of bikes, here there and everywhere! Miles more out riding too. They say there will be a lot more there later on tonight. Thought someone might be interested.

Not many riders about, they must be resting up for tonight. John.

cheers, john. more photos tonight if you can? lol.

went down to palmy with the olds today. stopped a set of lights near the warehouse...hear this huge nosie behind us...i figure its a truck and ignore. starts getting a bit louder, and i finally turn to look.
huge bunch of bikes...mainly harleys, but a few sportbikes as well. the front riders had a number of what looked like rally patches.
one harley had huge apes that sorta doubled back on themselves so the grips wound up at a normal-ish height. another had a maori design with maori words on the tank [ara something i think? cant remember]
must have been about 20-30 bikes...took off down towards wellington way, via what i think is pioneer highway. very very windy down there today, so i hope they all got there ok.

made my day seein and hearing all them...totally thrilling. just wish i coulda gone with them, lol.

Tell me about it. I took my flatmate up to Waikanae yesterday after lunch and the wind was about as bad as I have ever ridden it on the way up. We were hit by head and side gusts. Great trip back though. Stunning day today. There were a lot of HD's on the road but hardly anyone esle. And just for the record, no one waved. Like me they were hanging on for dear life.

Yep, it's ARA TOA and they're a great bunch of guys. The boys grew up with ape hangers back in the old Triumph days when their dads were riding with apes and monkey bars.

I rode back to Dunedin from Christchurch middle of the day yesterday, heaps of cruisers heading north. Got lots of waves and nods.

It got really windy around Oamaru area, it certainly cut down the waving.....

Saw some of those Harleys heading home as I was taking kids back to Dunedin on Sunday - they were riding through some unbelieveable shit - rain, sleet, high wind. Just before Milton the cars outside temp thing said a miserly 3 dgrees C. "Warmed" up to 8 by the time we got to Dn.
Not much weather protection on most of the Harleys I saw and those open face helmets didn't look like much fun either - even with a woolly face mask
