    Fabricated a camera mount.

Cannibalised an old tripod and a visit to the shipschandlers for some bracketry and...

    (needs quicktime)

I've improved is since this lot too - fixed some of the wobble. I'm going to get Stretch on something tricky and follow him next.

Nice video Big Dave, I don't believe I have been down any of those roads shown, so I'll be heading out that way once my license is back in hand.

Cool vid, ideal road for the tractor, I mean big Motard you ride... Looks like a good rythm ride road...

That's a nice image you're getting there. How about a pic of your handiwork?

Here's the one I made a while back, works a treat but only tested it up my road. Been meaning on taking it out and getting some decent twistie footage but unfortunately my bike is minus a screen and it's not until I get one sorted that I'm gonna be willing to use the camera.

Cheers - Tractor is cool - not a patch on Queen Charlotte Drive or Takaka hey?
I had that song pumping on the Ipod at the time too. Thumpin' indeed.

No sweat - next time I have the camera out.

All it is is the top off an old tripod with some brackets from the yachties shop to attach it to the handlebars.

I have to get a polarising filter for the lens for protection will do - after I scrape the bugs off it!

    Road looked good to me...

Did the Queen Charlotte about two weeks ago, not too much grit for most of it, just the last few K's before Picton... As for Takaka, not even an option unless you ride something like you've got...
If the weather keeps improving though, it'll be up and running again soon, should be interesting...

Expensive as a sacrificial filter, standard UV would do wouldn't it.
    What camera are you using?

Yeah - you are right - it's 3 or 4 year old Panasonic digital.

Got to check these guys out in the states earlier this year.
I thought the price was very reasonable for a professional product.
I found their engineering to be top quality.

Damn - don't have Quicktime at work - Clevedon/monument road is where I practice on weekends when I don't have much time (fatherly duties take up a lot of time) Be interested to see the places I ride on Vid.

    Will look at it tonight.

    cheers Dave

I'd had the mini tripod for years - but it's $25 bucks worth new and the brackets cost $15. They are for the canopy of a boat.

    and thanks for that link.
Not as elegant (or as efficient no doubt) as those professionally built jobs - and I was using some green garden twine as the failsafe - but on seeing their prices - I'm pretty happy with the 'No8 wire' solution.

Nice work. I've been thinking about trying to set up a bike cam, I was thinking of getting one of these cameras:
    http://www.trademe.co.nz/Electronics...n-70789126.htm

and one of these mp4 players that can record AV in:

    http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/List...px?id=70372254

Dunno how well they'd work, but it would be a bit of fun.
But I've got to save my dollars for tyres at the moment.
