I attended this meeting and there was no "agreement". It was broached as a "possibility" at some stage with the members, most of whom were against the idea, so was left as something to think about and have furthur talks on...certainly was not planned for any race like the BOB. Which for the record was only discussed as a possible event at the AGM and wasn't actually planned/decided on until after the AGM.
Agreed. I was there, listening intently until long after most of the other members left. Nothing was decided on. The BEARS officials said that they would help out if they could.

I would just like to point something out. ALL racers are painfully aware that the same handful of men have been at the top of the heap here for many, many years. Peter, I think the vast majority of road racers realise that a series like the junior cup is the best way of developing new talent. There are now juniors and trainees present at most major meetings in the South Island. Think for a moment about top level F1 riders- they spend vast amounts of money and huge amounts of time to develop their bikes. With the number of classes currently in place, track time is already limited, but they are happy to wait while the juniors do their training- I dare say at some tracks the juniors are getting more track time than the F1 riders. Please don't make enemys of the people who are the most likely to believe in, and support, what you are doing.

The nail was just struck on the head... well said Tony.

Pete, I would have thought it would be in the younsters best interest for you to work with the clubs rather than against. At the end of the days these young guys and girls will hopefully be the people racing at Club and National level in the future... surely that is what all this effort you are putting is in for.

    Passion and commitment

Hi, obviously I cannot speak for Pete or anyone else involved in this little misunderstanding, and am sure all parties have there own believe, wrong or write, and do not want to get involved in his/your dealings.

My input is to the people that may not Know Pete Jones, and in no way am I trying to judge/ belittle anyone that has defended them self on here.

This case has reminded me of some off the things that I have could have done better.

My passion for our sport is Silly really, I love it that much that my whole life revolves around it, and on accasions when I have either over streched myself or things are not going to plan, I have been known to spit the dummy!

I have recieved a reputation from some people that do not really know the true me, as an arrogant tosser! and I can see how some would/could come to that perception of me.

Every thing I have ever said or done, I have accepted full responsibility for! I move on, and try not to make the same mistake again, ( TRY no guarantee)
Short with red hair makes this a bit tricky some times

I guess what I am trying to say is directed at the people that have read through this thread that do not know the true Pete Jones, and have formed an opinion on Pete based on what you have read here only

The point is, this man has put 100"s and 100's of hours into our sport, training, advice, machine preperation, transportation of bikes for (KIDS)
Even spent lots of his own hard earned cash on the game, please know and remember this before you linch him.

I second that Shaun, I know Pete and he is a great guy, if it weren't for him I wouldn't be racing, he has done a great job with traing "youngsters" who are now the "new wave" into the sport, and without this once the present racer's retired who would be left?

However in saying this I can see how people could easily misjudge/misunderstand Pete as he is a very determined man and pushes what he thinks is right. (usually what is best in the long run for the "youngsters" and therefore the sport)

p.s I'm not trying to put anyone down here, (in case you think I'm in this argument I'm not!!!)

I think this thread should be left to die . BOB has been and gone. People have made their opinions known, there are no winners.

    Sorry and Thanks

I'd like to apologise for my postings on the issue of exclusion of the under 13 year olds at the BoB.
I knew better at the time, much better now that a posting like this would touch sensitive nerves. The correct way to have my feelings and opinions heard is in private, directly with those affected. It wasted a lot of peoples time and energy, which would have been much better spent progressing our mutual interests - the good health and welfare of our sport.
    I'm sorry, sorry, sorry.
I also want to thank the Bucket Club for actively working hard to try and accommodate the group I was interested in, (studying the rules, phone calls to MNZ etc.)
    Thanks, thanks, thanks.
Now, an ask for the respondents, please.
I am upset to be branded a liar.
EVERY critical post is supported by the assumption I knew the riders were unable to ride, and the reasons why, before midday Friday. The reasons given at that time were exactly as quoted. Thats all I knew. Other reasons (regarding the rules) I was unaware of until about midnight Friday, when I had the e-mail sent to me that people claim I got months ago.
I do accept that the whole picture would have been very different if I had received this critical e-mail earlier. Prior to this I had BEARS offer (I didn't ask) to discuss incorporation of Junior activities in their meetings. The reply came back "No" and I responded with acceptance of the decision and said "thank you" for their effort to consider it. I say all this to describe how I normally work, not the difficult arsehole as depicted in some postings.

I REALLY WANT PEOPLE TO ACCEPT THAT THIS IS TRUE, THAT I AM NOT A LIAR.

If you could do this, then great, we're left with Peter merely making an inappropriate gripe. Simple as that, and again, I apologise.

In the responses, there are a lot of comments I'd like to answer, but my lesson was learned very quickly, let it go, this is the wrong place.
However, in PRIVATE I welcome anyone to contact me at home at my house,
    Ph 0274303662,
    via PM, e-mail petejones@xtra.co.nz.
I'm happy to discuss any item raised. I am particularly interested in the rule problems described, as, after working on them for 2 years, using them for 1 and being guided by several of the most experienced and highest ranking stewards in the country, I'm keen to get the last "bugs" ironed out. I'd like to think I'm a team player, and this is an area of the sport I'm happy to work on.

To the people who are passionate about my work with developing young road racers, and fear my stupid actions compromise it, I have this message.
GIVE ME A HAND. I'm like anyone else, combine passion, overcommitments and feeling alone and you risk the dumb actions as I've just done. Before you think that's an excuse, no. I'm still reponsible.

Sorry again for the drama, guys and girls
This is my last post on this.
Yours in looking to a bright future of our sport
    Peter Jones

Fair enough, its a shame that your personal feelings got in the way of your possible eligible riders coming out tho. That is the bit I find frustrating from you.

You say here that you have been working on including the under 13 riders for 2 years to get them included...so why would you claim NOT to know that they are ineligible??
The bucket club first knew of your intention to bring out under 13s the week before the meet, and not directly from you but though other sources. Why did you not meet directly with them to confirm it was okay if you knew the rules could possibly be an issue (and you cannot say you didn't know the rules as you have been working to change them for 2 years!)? It would have been a whole lot worse of they had come out only to be disappointed on the day.

I have chosen not to respond to other parts of your post as I dont think it accomplishes anything to have arguments across this forum..all those who have been privy to the events, know the truth, so it should be just left there I feel.
I hope you are able to get it clarified about the under 13s...I'm still not sure that Buckets at Ruapuna is the right place to have them training amongst tho.
Anyway the day was awesome, racing was intense and hard work, and I hope we have many more! Maybe it CAN be sorted for next year, they say Rome wasn't built in a day eh?
And that is my last words on the matter.
