I wonder if these boys will get their act together?? ebike in the UK is pretty cheap......
Queiro voya todo Europa con mi moto.... pero no tengo suficiente tiempo o dinero.....
I've got my bike and scooter with kiwibike. $400and something for the bike (I think) and around $80 for the scooter (full cover) AA on the other hand wanted about $200 more for the bike and an extra $100 for only third party on the scooter.
and AA had some nasty excess.![]()
I've recomended Kiwibike to a mate with 5 bikes, and as they have a multibike discount (able to have all bikes on one policy if only one on the road at a time) he's very happy.
The online quote above wanted dbl what I pay Kiwibike.![]()
Good question Ozzie, can anyone else help - do we need the appropriate licence to get insurance?? Anyone been through this before with say a restricted licence on a 400 or something bigger?? help appreciated, cheers
Rightyho boys, now you've bought your cheap insurance, let's talk about cheap tyres, or cheap brake pads...
No?
Of course, none of us buys the cheapest tyres or brake pads for our bike, because we want them to perform, don't we?
Think about it.
I don't give a fuck how cheap my insurance is, as long as the T's are crossed and i's dotted.
So which insurance company do you work for then?
Read my post. I'm not stupid and if the cover is the same then why pay more than you need to?
Some of the worst insurance stories I've heard are about the big boys.
I think you'll find that Savoy is a type of cabbage, not lettuce!
And I agree with Dover, as long as the cover is the same, the excess not too crippling and the reputation of the company for paying out claims is good, then I'll be going with the cheapest. Ebike quoted me $464.52 (and just about needed to know what I had for breakfast and the last time my bowels moved), AA were $428, State $366 and Swan - who I have heard lots of good things about - were $321.30. Sorry, but I'm not going to complain about saving $107 a year on what I have been paying! Same goes for the house and contents insurance, they're all pretty much of a muchness but some have far lower excesses and better reputations for paying out.
Thankfully I've never had a motorcycle claim and hopefully (famous last words!) I never will, so why pay over the odds for my insurance?
Yes, I am pedantic about spelling and grammar so get used to it!
I'm a Broker.
I pay more than I have to. Despite the fact that I can insure with most of the major underwriters in NZ at "mates rates", I insure with Classic Cover. Why? Because I know the company and the people, and I trust them.
Think about it.
If the cover is the same, why is the premium cheaper?
There can be several reasons, including lower overheads (which may or may not result in shitty service), bad underwriting (which evetually leads to a bad claims experience)or a harsher attitude to claims.
So what is your professional opinion on Star then?
If you have an opinion based on fact and experience then I can't understand why it would be a problem to express it.
If it's based on personal feelings then I wouldn't consider it a reason for anyone else not to use them.
I asked for a professional opinion after all, and if I were to be looking to use your services as a broker I would expect your advice to impartial and the same to all.
I am also a broker and I use Star Insurance for every bike I do. They handle their own claims in-house so I dont understand what your problem with their underwriter is if they don't do anything with the claim?
Star Insurance uses Green Associates in Auckland and Waikato, who have 25 years experience in assessing and most dealers will say they do the job well, and GAB Robbins everywhere else
I have asked them to use a different assessor before and they told me no problems as the guy had a good reputation.
Would like to know what other problems you have, and if you would like a quote PM me.
