Well, it may be of course that he is selling it for the traditional reasons of needing money for house, baby, furniture type stuff. Not because she is making him give up biking per se. And he intends to return to the fold once he has more oney (whether he will is another matter of course, many brothers are lost to the dark side in those years of shadow)

Awful lot of people have done that road over the years.

Yeah Ixion - that came to mind for me as well... he might not necessarily be giving it up at all... like you said many people have done it that way before.

You will never live it down

    Until they whip it

    I say whip it
    Whip it good

I'd give up a ginny for a Blackbird....no hesitation. And by Blackbird I ain't talkin' bout no motown diva neither.

Could also be that he's selling this bike as opposed to the other 5 he owns.

My ex girlfriend in Scotland - her dad had 8 bikes at one point - old BSA's, an AJS, an Ariel and some other old brits. He used to auction whichever one was least fave at the time to make space in the garage or buy bits to keep the others running.

Well, I gave up riding when I first got married simply because of lack of cash, then the kids came along and I spent all the time I could with them, particularly pre-teens. It was only when they were a bit older that I contemplated a bike again. Mrs B might sometimes (oh all right then, quite a lot ) take the piss out of my passion for bikes, but she'd never use blackmail tactics. Guess that's why it's anniversary #35 next year. Oh yeah, and I know that she's a special babe and she knows it too. That's why I have this mark on my forehead that looks suspiciously like the thumbprint that MDU mentioned.

Could never contemplate being without a bike now.

I'd resent that comment if it were directed at me (and if it was ok by you...)

Wouldn't give up riding for a sprog ether. It'd be straight off to the abortion clinic for her at the first sign of one of those horrid things spawning.
