That is not something I've ever experienced, been riding 25 years, how often does this happen? Is it always in the same area/same people? From cars or footpath?
Seriously, get the answers to this stuff and maybe the problem can be made to go away.
Good luck with your riding and welcome to KB.

Even small objects can knock you off your bike, so don't hesitate to get a rego and report it.

Many years ago, I kicked a possum. Had this mental idea of it flying through the air in a graceful curve. Actually knocked me off my bike, broke my foot and f*cked my rifle. (I was in the bush on my XT).

A two thousand dollar, painfull lesson about the energy required to accelerate a stationary object !
Ha ha ha I did that once coming down Stokes valley at night way back in the fifties, kicked the possum with the same thoughts that you described.
Ended up missing the bridge and getting tossed bike and all into the stream!
I aint never ever tried kickin a possum since! Fantasy and reality don't line up when it comes to kickin possums. (lol) Cheers John.

Definately not the norm, though in years gone by I've have had things thrown at me and had one incident where a bloke tried to run out & stiff-arm me as I rode by, and a couple of instances of cars moving across on me as I passed them fools!

As for possums, a bloke I used to ride with had one fall out of tree on to him as he was rounding a bend on his way to Nelson late at night, just about peeled him off the bike. Panic stopped because he didn't have a clue what had hit him, checked the damage to the bike (broken screen & mirror) went back to the where he'd been hit to find the possum impaled on part of the broken screen & taking it's last breaths

had an episode a few months ago ....

Riding along rockfield road in penrose, group of young (teenagers) locals (Maori/Islander) gathered in a group (3 or 4) on the side of the road.
As I ride past a tennis ball comes flying out from the group towards my front wheel and narrowly misses it.
I didn't really have time to react, but i'm certain it was aimed to try and make me fall off.

Thought about turning round and giving them a talking to, but was a bit outnumbered and not to keen on them trashing my bike if it turned nasty

I've had rocks thrown at me by a couple of homies before which was dealt with accordingly.

I've had oranges thrown at my by homies.... there was about 40 of them so I didn't bother stopping.

I have had little homie kids throw stones at me several times.

I have had people throw other random shit at me including a couple of homies running down the road after me in GI swearing in Tongan/Samoan and throwing beer bottles at me for no reason at all.

Moral of the story... Homies suck!!

This is where teaching physics in school instead of macrame and bead weaving would be a good idea.

I've had some bullshit stories told to me in my time:
one guy said he used to hook up the pressure strips of traffic counters as he rode over them.
my response: "were you badly injured when you crashed?"

Another was a tosser who claimed he stuck his arm out of a car window as a bike rider rode past and knocked him off his bike.
I asked him how long his arm was in a cast.

    Bullshitters have no idea

Hmmm... Nothing so far except godawful quantities of water this morning...
Note: Road water from Ellerslie Panmure Hwy tastes like sh*t.

Had a snow ball thrown at me, which wasnt great considering riding in snow/ice is bad enough. Hit me front on in the chest, could not work out where it came from...

    Bullshitters maybe or perhaps Naive.
When I was 16 or 17 I naively swerved toward and put my foot out to kick a dog that was having a go at me. I figured that the dog would be no match for my steel capped work boots. Though I did physics at school, it wasn't on my mind at that instant. Must have been doing about 50-60 . To my horror It was a hell of an impact that partially wrenched me off the bike breaking bones (both me and dog) and I only stayed upright by good luck rather than management.
If you love it, let it go. If it comes back to you, you've just high-sided!

You could maybe do that OK if the bike was going the same direction as thye car and not much faster. Push the rider sideways as he goes past, not going to be much load on your arm. But I don't want to test the hypothesis.
