    Hi HxC

Sorry to read about the incident last night. Please take very good care of yourself over the next few days as being shaken like that can really take it out of you mentally as well as physically. I hope you get the bastard and there is some justice!! I am thinking about you. You don't need this sort of shit in your life at the mo either.

    Hey thanks for that.

Well people, it seems the cops have been mislead. They were told the owner of that ute has not been there for 3 years, yet today, a certain KBer saw that very same ute outside that very same house, so it has some sort of connection with it.

If I happened to get photos with times on them (digi cam) on different days and different times, and give them to the Police, would that be frowned upon? Technically, I'm not doing anything illegal, but they may not want me 'meddling'(sp?) with their 'investigation'.

Contact: Scumdog, Bykey Cop or any of the other police officers on this site for their advise as to whether or not this is the thing you should do.

They know best in this situation re your question.

As to running the red light... the police wont mind as you are doing everything possible to save your life from being hurt or terminated by these people.

I had to do that once and the police officer told me it was ok in that situation.

hxc....that sucks the big one eh? i told some buddies in the triumph club here, and they were all disgusted, as am i.

i seriously hope some sort of justice is served...its time those that get hurt or attacked are treated like victims...not criminals...which many of us are made to feel like.

photos might be a good idea, but do contact the onsite cops for the best advise...if the ute isnt living there, then he must know those that are...was it the owner/driver of the ute who hit you, or the passenger?

Shit! Argh! The case will be going no further. The driver of the car went into the cop shop last night and spoke to the officer in charge of the case, his story was virtually the same as mine, but more trying to save his arse in there.

Because the driver 'doesn't know him' and the prints on my helmet aren't identifiable, the offender will not be found. The driver says that his name is 'Ed', doesn't know his last name and he 'just picked him up'. Oh, and the driver 'didn't see him hit me'. . .

What a load of shit, that is! So, I guess it's brake fluid time now, even though it wasn't the driver who hit me.

Yep, pretty much what hXc said, except that the cop spoke to me as well. He is "very concerned' at the way Zac 'engaged the driver' and provoked the situation, putting himself at risk.
BTW the cop knows that the driver is lying, but can't torture him to get to the truth.
Zac should have stayed behind him, got a rego number, stopped his bike, removed gloves and helmet, and used his cell ph to call police. They would have been there quickly to apprehend a possible drink driver and been totally unconcerned about Zac being outside of his 10 pm curfew by then !
Yeah right, says I! (The cop actually thought it was 10.30 not 10pm).
We do have discretion, he says, and use it! Another tui ad!
The only option open to us is to see this thug walking down the street, make a positive ID, call the cops and it will be all over rover for him... another tui ad.
I can't believe the way that this guy tried to make Zac out as the criminal, the wrong doer in this instance. Seems like another case of the victim being shafted while the thug runs free.

It's things like this that make the NZ Police force lose their respect. The cop knows he's lying, but can't do a thing about it.

I feel like slightly modifying my numberplate now. Brake lever mounted somewhere easily accesible, attatched to top of number plate; when lever is pulled, plate flicks up, latch the lever up and do what you want. Then when you're out of sight, un latch the lever and the plate flicks down again.

If this was in the states, couldn't the driver of the vehicle be done with misleading the law or something?

Technically, could here also. Supplying false information, or perverting the course of justice. Or maybe obstructing the police in the execution. Or even accessory after the fact .

Realoty is, you're not going to get the police to take any interest. Noone was really hurt, the assault was a minor one, and the possible charges(to the driver, for fibbing I mean) would be incommensurate with the offence.
