I find it hard to beleive Rossi didn't have a problem. He was circulating at slower than normal speeds in the first five laps, then when he tried to push, he lost the front end. Given that he was comfortably circulating for 50+ laps in practice at front running pace, but can't in the race?
He's not the sort of guy to give excuses (ie Fogarty etc) and he has already admitted it was his mistake, but it wouldn't surprise me if something was amiss with the Michelins. They've already given him a public apology this year for the chunking incident......
Don't get me wrong I love Michelins, but the greatest bike racer of all time making such an easy mistake?
Hmmmmm.
Viva La Figa
I recorded a extra 50 minutes past the time Prime listed, and still missed the last 30 seconds of the race! At least it wasn't a tight finish or I would really be![]()

True, but Hayden won't go down in history as a great rider unless he can do the same next year. Its a bit like Alex Criville (who?) back in the Doohan days, Doohan damaged himself and left the door open for Criville on the other best bike in the paddock. Noone remembers Criville for being an awesome rider and true champion as he won by default.
Full credit to Hayden for being consistent, but that wouldn't have won him the championship in normal circumstances. Lots of great riders had injuries etc and mostly not their faults... Gibernau took out far too many people.
Most of Rossi's bike problems have been alleviated.
The fuel load wasn't the issue, it was chatter from too much grip on fresh tires. It actually used to reduce as the tires wore out, and consequently Rossi posted many fastest laps on almost shagged out tires in the closing laps of a race.

well that completly blows. Like really.
As good a rider as hayden is, I don't like him, and he didn't really deserve the title.
Shame for Rossi, But to me, He's always going to be the world champion..
gaarrrhhh.... I hate shit endings
Wait till next year and the 800's.
No doubt Honda will have already done a massive amount of testing.
Apparently their 800 is just a V5 990 minus one cylinder, so engine should instantly be on the top performance wise.
It'll be interesting to watch and I'd imagine Rossi will want to win the first 800 championship, as he did with the 990's.

stop whining like little bitches, Rossi is undisputedly the best rider but it's a marathon, not a sprint, to the world title and it is a combination of rider and teamwork.
Hayden deserves the title, he's done his job.
As much as I wanted to see Rossi whitewash the 990cc MotoGP era I had to smile as I saw the elation from Hayden as he crossed the line. There's always next year.

* goes a huntin
:slap:
I would have preferred Rossi to win, but good on Hayden for doing it.
I'm looking forward to next year.
Couple of interesting articles here:

Interesting Colin's comments about front tyre problems in the first article.
I wonder if tyre problems contributed to Rossi's mistake, or if he just stuffed up for whatever reason.
