Pissed rider on Gold SV1000S crashed in Wanganui?

Was riding home from Waiouru on Tuesday 31st October just before dusk and saw three people on the side of the road, crouched over something, about 10 minutes north of Wanganui on S.H.3. Made me think something wasn't right so turned back to find them tending to a rider lying in long grass up against a wire fence.

Turned out he had hit a wooden barrier, taken out two rails and three buried posts!!! his bike was down off the road in bushes... neither the rider or the biker were visible and he was going to have a struggle to survive the night unnoticed if it wasn't for the observant off duty woman who noticed the rail damage as she drove past and turned back to have a look.

She found the bike, then heard snoring and found the bloke some 50 feet from his bike

Bike would be a write off, and if he wasn't found by her just as it was getting dark, my guess is he was a write off too.

It was great she found him, but TOTALLY pissed us off that he completely stunk of alcohol!!!! He was snoring because he was asleep, broken leg, stuffed hands from no gloves etc as well as the blood leaks and internal injuries and all...

Someone was looking out for him though... off duty cop flagged down two cars and a truck as she had no idea where the hell they were. Truckie gave her the location and the people in the two cars... one was a nurse and the other was a hospital worker too (not sure what he was...) then me, the fourth to stop...another off duty.

Luckily he wasn't too large as one Ambo officer and I lifted him into the Ambulance while the other two were working on him...

Although the pisshead got lucky, haven't heard anything more since. Anyone know of him?

EDIT: To top it all off, the Policewoman also saved a 3 week old baby the day before after it stopped breathing on its mum. She stepped in and got it going again for her...

Good grief ... his Asphalt Angel called in reinforcements! Kudos to all those people who helped out and the sharp-eyed 5-0. It's amazing to hear stories like that still - riding two wheels requires being in relative good condition and I guess you won't be for long drinking and riding!

Yeah, your probably right. Sometimes I like to try and find the good in people, but sounds like this guy was a very lucky idiot!

    Bling for you for stopping.
    Bling for the police woman.

For the rider... hang up your helmet.

Big ups to you Patrick, and to the copper who found him, and the others who helped out.
Unfortunately, the idiot pretty much deserved to be there, what kind of fucktard reject rides drunk in the first place?!
If you should happen across the cop who found him, give sincere regards and respect for spotting skills, and looking out for us all.
If you should happen across tha idiot.... well slap him a little to check his alertness.

Snoring his head off.. only woke when the Ambo boys were working on him...moving his busted knee probably woke him quick smart. I thought initially he may have been struggling to breathe, but no, snoring!!! He was asleep!!!

    No - we reek....

And its hypoglycaemia not a 'turn' (although in my case a turn is often an accurate description)
