Was riding home from Waiouru on Tuesday 31st October just before dusk and saw three people on the side of the road, crouched over something, about 10 minutes north of Wanganui on S.H.3. Made me think something wasn't rightso turned back to find them tending to a rider lying in long grass up against a wire fence.

Turned out he had hit a wooden barrier, taken out two rails and three buried posts!!!his bike was down off the road in bushes... neither the rider or the biker were visible and he was going to have a struggle to survive the night unnoticed if it wasn't for the observant off duty
woman who noticed the rail damage as she drove past and turned back to have a look.
She found the bike, then heard snoring and found the bloke some 50 feet from his bike![]()

Bike would be a write off, and if he wasn't found by her just as it was getting dark, my guess is he was a write off too.
It was great she found him, but TOTALLY pissed us off that he completely stunk of alcohol!!!! He was snoring because he was asleep, broken leg, stuffed hands from no gloves etc as well as the blood leaks and internal injuries and all...![]()

Someone was looking out for him though... off duty cop flagged down two cars and a truck as she had no idea where the hell they were. Truckie gave her the location and the people in the two cars... one was a nurse and the other was a hospital worker too (not sure what he was...) then me, the fourth to stop...another off duty.
Luckily he wasn't too large as one Ambo officer and I lifted him into the Ambulance while the other two were working on him...
Although the pisshead got lucky, haven't heard anything more since. Anyone know of him?
EDIT: To top it all off, the Policewoman also saved a 3 week old baby the day before after it stopped breathing on its mum. She stepped in and got it going again for her...
