Nice work for helping the dude even if he was a dipshit. Hopefully no one needs to help him like that again.

Snoring - that really is funny though.

Big ups to the coppas involved, credit where due.

And its hypoglycaemia not a 'turn' (although in my case a turn is often an accurate description)

ps - bloody piss heads giving us Diabetics a bad name...
So he may have been Hypoglycaemic not drunk?

Is there any way of telling the difference? You of course will have a sticker on your helmet, so we can see. But are there any tell tale signs?

I didn't see anything about a smell... but I understand it's like acetone?

If he'd been a diabetic he'd probably not have crashed...

Can get tricky trying to ride with beer googles, hard enough trying to pick out the ugly women!!

The sticker think is prob a good idea but most people i ride with are well aware of my condition and I tend to be super careful about my bloods when I'm on the bike.

Sweating, the shakes, rapid talking, not making much sense... Pretty much normal for me I guess...

It's a bloody awful feeling and I'm usually drained afterwards..... Wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy...

[QUOTE=Speedie;809829]Snoring resps in a trauma situation like you describe Patrick, are nearly always an occluded airway

This is why helmets should come off after an accident./QUOTE]

With the noise he was making and the position he was in, I had no doubt it was snoring as in alseep from excess alcohol... but hey, I'm no expert. We monitored him throughout and as long as he was making noise, all was good enough until ambos arrived and they took the helmet off. We weren't so keen...

I always thought the helmet stayed on???? (Unless not breathing or breathing seriously restricted by it etc and C.P.R. was needed???)

Made sure the boys who arrived to deal with the crash made the necessary arrangements for a sample to be taken at Hospital...

I think all diabetics would be horrified that someone would think they were stupid enough to ride drunk!

This guy needs a boot up the arse and I hope his insurance company finds out the circumstances and refuses to pay out - if he was insured.

Good work by all involved in saving his sorry arse though, well done.

Found out the dudes name and he is on the mend.

To be honest, I'm not sure of the bike was an SV ir a TL but it was gold yellow metallic... rear hugger, bikini farings, instrument panel, lights, pipes, seats and levers all smashed to pieces. In the poor light, it looked like it said "SV1000S" on the downed side faring still intact under the bike.

Oh, is that what does it. I always thought it was Mrs Ixion catching me using her oven to heat my crankcases again. Symptoms are much the same.

On yer for doing the good thing and not riding on by. I'd heard you should leave the helmet on an unconscious rider, and in fact seen a sticker on a lid to that effect.

    Alrighty.

The rider in question is a good mate of mine for nearly 2 decades, and while what you are all saying about the drink is 100 percent true Im pretty shattered by the entire incident. As I said he is a good mate, a good guy, a father, and has a lovely Mrs.

His family are going through hell at the moment, They have tappped his skull to relieve the pressure, The extent of his brain injuries wont be known untill futher down the track.

If he gets back to full health then Im gonna slap him silly, But untill then he has my prayers, His kids need their dad back in good shape.

And I would like to thank all those involved in coming to his aid.
