for those on the North Shore, you will know where this is.

Fuck 'em, as the article says, they can't do anything anyway.
Makes me want to buy an MX bike just to go there and piss people off. Since when did people becoming grumpy become news anyway.

I remember when (hundreds of years ago) I was a youngun (yes, it's true, I wasn't always 107) we used to spend many a happy hour carooming around 'as-yet-undeveloped-subdivisions' on our trailbikes, and we never had a single complaint or "Grumpy Residents Bitch and Moan Because They Need to Get a Life" newspaper article.
Mind you, back in those days, the SafetyNazi(TM) was probably still but a wee bairn....
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....

Problem is that the new 4's noise travels so dam far!!!! Back in the day everyone was on a putty old 4 stroke XR or DR or some old 2 stroke. Now the bikes are so loud and fast. I do think that 100kph is a tad bullshit though.

I have sent my letter to the Ed at NZ herald, saying my view. prehaps a few more member around here may do the same, or us dirtbikers could be a dying breed if we are kicked off all our tracks like ardmore,Digger Mc Ewen, Harrisville and more. Waipu Caves has already been a victim, we shouldnt take anymore shit from the noise natzi cunts.

Correct me if I'm wrong - but this is actually not a track? More like a piece of dirt the bikes started using (i.e. they're not supposed to)?

If that's the case then the residents have every right and reason to complain. Shit... I would.

MDU, this isn't and offical track, but we are being forced to ride illegally because of the shutdown of offical venues, beacause of bitching and moaning.
The Waipu Caves MX/ Cross Country Extravagnaza that used to be held 1 weekend a year was shut off because of cunts bitching and moaning, and in doing so have ruined the legacy of a great event.

    Gotcha... and err... bugger!

Is there any way to find a common ground... i.e. you obviously want the other tracks opened again... and so do the residents by virtue of the noise being made in/near their back yards.

Just lookin' for the solution that I expect you guys are trying to find too...

This has always been a problem since we got trail bikes in the late '60's early 70's - young guys are really, really stupid. But then people have now been taught to complain and make it work.

I used to work with a guy who moved into a new subdivision that we used to ride on just a few years previously. He used to do homers,on earthmoving equipment! To run in a motorscaper with a Detroit V6,he'd take it out to the subdivision behind his place and put a brick under the throttle, then he'd run it at max rpm on the govenor for 8hrs on a sunday! And these days people complain about a few motorcycles, sheesh!

If these developers had any brains they would let the guys do it for $5 a day while they are not developing the site.

Half the problem is bikes that make huge amounts of noise. I suspect that if the guys riding here illegally wern't running 100dB plus after market mufflers it wouldn't be such a problem.
Stop moaning, get a real muffler and ride somewhere you aren't tresspassing, there are still plenty of options.
The more you piss people off in general the less legal places there will be to ride for the rest of us.
