ditta was one of those bloody awesome rally weekends, sun, bikes, sandflies and all.
Got a few good piccies, and nice one of your bike Skirtster Girl, and of your mates...you'll have to get her to join up

    Thanks for the company guys.
Fridays ride up with Biff and 2 mates, ...one of whom shall possibly be joining up soon...and already has a few stories for us to tell about him eh ZXboyo? ...CCQ, Dangerous and Me, was windy at first with the nor'wester blowing a gale, but once we hit the pass that died to be replaced with....sunshine! That surprised me... I was expecting the worse with the nor'wester blowing (usually means rain on the west/central areas) but no, weather was supurb.

And so was the lack of men in blue, saw one a block from home, then 2 at richmond and that was it...so the trip was uneventful in that respect, but I had a lot of fun, felt like I was in my groove on the bike. After dangerous and the boy without a name decided to have a go, I tried to join em, but failed ...altho at the same time managed to lose all the others so had a supurb wee blat thro the kawatiri gorge by myself, love those corners and the new tyre on the back was doing its bit well. Funny how you dont really notice how worn a tyre is till you put on a new one!

Got to the saddle and it was CCQ's turn for the lead for a bit, then Biffs blat, then we all started behaving again when we caught up to the others, not to mention all the Harleys out for a cruise.
I must admit i haven't seen so many harleys at a rally since the HOG rally...shit there were a lot, sunny nelson must be where they all go to retire
Was nice to be at a rally on a friday again, a chance to put up the tent and relax for the next couple of days, not having to be constantly on the go.
Did i say just what an AWESOME spot for a rally that camp is???
It has it all from hot showers and flush toilets, to shady trees and a river running round...fantastic...I will be back!
Photos to come later, when I have done some chores

Twas indeed fun. A gentle (ish) ride up. I think we met Skirtster girl, and friend. Then again most of the weekend was a blur, so maybe I was yapping to some other ladies (HD and a GSXRtwo fiddy?).Sorry I didn't spend much time with ya Dangerous and Rashika. So much beer and yarning to do and so little time. A great ride up.

A much faster ride home made me realize that it's not a good idea to get your knee down without sliders on. Or the fact that it's quite dangerous to lean too far over when the mighty Biffbird has its (now scratched) panniers on. Bloody sprots bike riders leading me astray. Or maybe I need to revert to riding something a little more agile than the Albatross.

My thoughts go out to the family (6 kids?) and friends of the couple that tragically didn't make it.

Awesome... bloody awesome rally. Well I guess what makes it a great rally is the fact its in the oppsite direction to all the others. Since the BRONZ Xmas rally in the lakes region and the wonder rally stopped there has been no rallys up the north end on the s/i but the nelson rally seems to be here to stay.

This was the 3rd year the rally has been on but I have not managed to get there till now and one things for sure... I'll be back.

Left Chch with Ghost_Bullet, Biff, Rashika and a couple of Biffs odd looking mates on green bikes.
The ride up was sweet, a tad windy but what the hell mint anyway.
The rally site is magic, nestled in the Maitai valley on the river with manuka trees everywhere it felt very comphy. Well we set up camp and had a few drinkies and listened to the band.

Saturday morn came and I slowly dragged my arse out a bed and lined up for the thunder ride.
After the ride I buggered off to say hi to my old lady and raid the pantry just like the old days.
That night went off as per most rally nights with a drink or to and some music and talk the bull with KBers that had rocked up like Woodybee, Skirtser Girl, R1, Orange back, chick n charge to mention only a few.

Up Sunday morn and yeee fucking harrr no hangover, loaded up and departed with Rashika and CnC off to my old ladies for a shower, feed and coffee. Headed on through the Whangamoas to Blenheim where we left CnC and sat on a sweet 120k with a couple a young fellas on Jappas and 3 Hogs, best ride in ages with no coppers and SFA traffic.

Heart goes out to the couple that died in the Lewis pass on the way to the rally...

    Pic 1) meet up
    2) getting ready for the thunder ride
3,4&5) end off ride in Nelson central
    6) ohhh look spotted my old Guzzi at the rally

    So much fun !!!!

Was great to meet the KB's I met - & the one's I didn't there's more rallies coming up for sure.

Thanks to D & R for saving me camp spot - but D a little more detail on where tent was would have been helpful - the hint about the towels on the fence behind tent had me pitching tent in 10 possible sites.....lol.

Weather was lovely - flies were annoying but otherwise was fantastic rally. Bring on the rest of them.

See y'all at the next one.

Be safe - be seen - be happy

Hi again, just a few pics that I took, not great quality, Camera function on video is not flash.
    The rally site was awesome!!
I should have taken sun screen,
Dimp would not have repelled that gimp during the wet-t, though would have helped against the sand flies.
I got a little rain on the return back on Monday. But the idiot in the four wheel drive, passing a stock truck around a bend coming toward me was very uncool
I was only just able to dodge...

Awesome rally, great to put some more faces to names. I had a ball. If you're interested in an adventurers ride to and fro have a read here, start at post #43.

Damn...now THAT was a funny moment.

imagine this... all the blokes watching the wet T comp, all eyes forward apart from this one bloke who decided to take a fancy to our boy without a name (henceforth known at ZXboy till he signs on). Said gimp decides he LIKE the look of ZXboy and decides he WANTS him soooooo bad.
ZXboy is getting that look in his eye like... "come any closer and i may just take ya block off" so in steps chic n charge to.... what else but take charge ...along with Ghost Bullet to act as a distraction and who ends up getting ALL the attention from gimp instead.
Damn what a funny thing to observe, tho i must admit i did help the blockade with Chic n charge, just in case it was needed. After Cn C was able to help redress the guy ( he was having a few issues with his jacket, like putting the correct arm in correct sleeve) he went on his way, but first had to have a wee bit of luving from the ghost man... on ya dude! Good save

yeah saw someone who looked like that was what they were doing... I'm guessing it may be the same as those pics of last year that were on the Marquee wall? ...probably be able to get any good ones, but hopefully dont have to wait till next year

did ya like the wee piccie of your bike? I thought it was kinda apt when i looked up and noticed the sign on the wall at the back, had to take a 2nd shot to get it framed in the image right
