Looks good, I didn't much like the purple either, all green with black rims (standard).

the green and purple I don't mind tooo much...but still...would probably look alright with the WSB stickers etc on it as well as then it would have a purpose...other then making the bike look like 2 bikes and been joined in the middle.
My favourite colour is the green with the black checkered flag (2001 model?).
I don't really mind about not keeping it original (putting new mini front indicators on as well as I don't like the giant ones it comes with), you have to enjoy what you own, I'll worry about selling it when the time comes, until then....![]()
errr... yeah, well, mine isn't stock, not by half... I just feel that a lot look at a repaint, and don't even ask why you did it![]()
You're welcome to repaint, personally tho, I would rather spend it on the next bike![]()
I agree on the indicators, I hate the stock ones, and I like your solo tail. You need a pipe hanger now![]()

Yep, side panels look grouse. Post up a side shot and we'll photoshop some different coloured wheels on it![]()
yeah fair enough, although my painting is done for free (just do computer work for him) so I can't say no!!![]()
Yeah I really want to remove the rear foot pegs, but then I realised it was holding the pipe on
What have you done to your bike? always interested in hearing what can be done and what works. Mines just had a new exhaust and jet kit (unsure of detials, done by the previous/previous owner).
Dont matter what colour it is brother...its a Kwacka.![]()
I find the most effective way to reduce the purple is to loosen my grip.![]()
Looking good, make sure you post a finished shot![]()
If you can't be good, be good at it
nice... and I guess if its free....![]()
My 7:
- Galfer braided lines front and rear (previous owner)
- Mini Front Indicators (getting replaced with better quality ones when they arrive)
- Tank and Front facing fairings protective covered with film (previous owner)
- Purple screen(that was NOT my choice)
- Crash bungs (previous owner)
- Factory Pro Jet Kit
- K&N Air Filter (previous)
- Ohlins Rear Suspension (previous)
- Muzzy Pipe (previous)
- No rear fender, Undertail unit and a hugger (previous)
- Clear Alternatives Integrated Tail Light (with indicators)
- Suspension tuned and set up all round by Bungy at Cycletreads (and he did an awesome job)
- Not sure if the rear ride height is back to stock... I did have it jacked up a bit at one stage, but before the suspension was properly done
- Also have a green solo tail unit, but its time consuming to swap over, so only do it when I'm sure I'm not carrying pillions
Since the 7 was "the" bike to have a while back, there are plenty of goodies to buy. If you really like your bike, you could also investigate stuff like muzzy's big bore kit (taking it to 810cc) or transplant a 9 engine into it, or an older zxr750 crank (793cc). There is also the ignition advance rotor etc, but I think I will upgrade instead... but soooo tempting

How much of a difference did the Factory Pro jet kit make? Any dyno numbers?
I'm thinking of doing the 900cc conversion, I love this bike and definatly don't plan on selling it anytime soon. Still one of the nicest shapes out there...there is just something about the new style of bikes that doesn't quite sit with me...they are damn nice, but still...it would be a need for more power, thats the only time I'd sell the 7R.
In regards to the single seat, is yours the 7RR one? I'm supposed to change over the rear frame as well when putting the single seat on, but have found it will screw on with 2 bolts very tightly...which makes it very easy to change over. No problems yet.
Maybe I should just sell mine...and purchase yours when you sell it...sounds like she has a few goodies on it![]()
No dyno numbers I'm afraid. Never have dyno'd it. From an auction I saw on TM a while back, the seller posted his dyno chart, and with the goodies I have, I would roughly estimate 120 ish rwhp (but obviously an estimate). The seller was getting 122.6 with a pipe and jet kit I think.
You said yours already has a jet kit? The FP jet kit definitely has made a difference to mine, but I think the mechanic, when trying to sort out one issue, made it run too rich, meaning it bogs down with too much throttle at 3.5-4k revs. Hoping to get that resolved next week when she goes in for a service.
Other than the bogging... fark, I think she moves damn well from 5 to 10ish revs. Enough to get to the verge of hoisting the front, under power, and the last time I replaced the chain and sprockets, I accidentally went back to stock, rather than a couple of teeth up at the back.
The bike is still a 7R, and I don't have the RR subframe, I just bolt the tail (looks like a non-geniune one) on using the 2 bolts by the tank, and its a super snug fit. Just means that I have to move my shock reservoir, because it sits inside the fairing, and the one piece can't slide over it (hence it being dastardly time consuming).
For power, the only time I have run into issues is passing bigger newer bikes down straights as I tend to prefer passing on straights, rather than corners. The 7 is good in that you can sit mid corner, and roll on the throttle, and ride it right out of the corner. I wouldn't be upgrading if I didn't spend so much time commuting to work/clients. Only get to ride in the country once a month or so, sometimes less.
Also got a grin on my face last weekend, hounding a quick 250 through tight twisties, and it showed me the suspension has definitely been set up well. I only notice the weight of the 7 when coming into tight downhill corners, then it suddenly hits you how much you have to brake, to flick it in.

not sure what the story is with the jet kit, it was what the seller said to me but never saw proof...so who knows, although I have had the front lift up only under accelleration...although not very often, small bump in the road at the right time and she lifts up, once in 2nd...which gave me a fright as I wasn't expecting it. Mine is stock gearing though (well...as far as I know).
If you get the genuine rear cover (the RR one) it fits without moving anything, I just bolt it up and away I go.
Mine also hates the low revs, I have a rule, keep it over 3.5k and only lightly roll on the throttle under 4-4.5k...seems to work well. saying that I just put new plugs in and she runs alot better in the lower rev range.
Might have to get a dyno done on mine...see if that jet kit is really installed...although that still wont definatly tell me.
I doubt it. Because the solo tail is one piece (instead of the sides) it has to slide on, and because I have the ohlins rear shock, I have my reservoir concealed in the side of the tail (clamped to the subframe). When you slide the tail on, you simply can't get it past the reservoir, so normally I move it outside... to give a bit of gold bling contrast to the green![]()
mmmm, with the bogging, I have been told its simply big carbs... but I want to see if there is a way to sort it out. I can ride the bike at 2.5k plus, and have accelerated from 2k in a car manner, but around town, its all you need. Generally, specially in the morning, I will keep her around 3k, and its fine.
A dyno run may tweak your delivery properly, and you should see an hp figure of probably 110+, if you have a jet kit, as stock is 122 crank, so round 100 rwhp. Also, if your seller was a good, he/she should have left over parts I would think, from fitting the jet kit, as mine came with 8 needles (2 sets, of 4 sizes I think), when you need 4.
