    Test Riding Rules

Hey this may sound a bit naff to all you experienced bikers out there but I went test riding for the first time last weekend. Sold my DR250 last Friday night and having recently acquired my full licence it's time to go shopping. Had a short list of bikes I wanted to ride so started off with a SV650S - nice but not really me. Next was a GSR600 - didn't gel at all. Wanted to ride a ER6n but someone had already beaten me to it so took a Cagiva Raptor 650 instead - absolutely loved it. By the time I got home my better half thought I was either pissed, on drugs or having an affair cos I couldn't stop smiling. Best fun you can have with your pants on IMO! Depending on the weather I'm heading out for more test rides tomorrow.
Why would anyone choose to drive a car!

oh i thought the title of this thread meant there are lots of rules for doing test rides. Which I have never done becasue I'm poor and a learner. But anyway. I look forward to testing!

Just get the Cagiva! Go Italian (of sorts)
Bloody great bike. Well built with good gear.
Go on you know thats what you should do... just do it
May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face.

The best thing I found to do was listen to everyones advice about which is best for your style of riding. Then forget it and test ride anything you like the look of. even if it isnt excatly what you think you want.
The real mystery is how come that fat bastard Hurley has never lost any weight.

The 'Rule' my local shop has that bugs me, is they make you sign an insurance form that says you won't break any road rules.
    Hello! It's a TEST RIDE!
How many of us won't break 100km/h as we 'Test' our proposed purchuse out?
That means if we have a 'off' while testing the pickup of the bike to, say, 'car passing speeds', we won't be covered by shop insurance.
I guess they expect us to lie about how the accident happened?

I don't think so! Look out the window. I've got a river running down my street at the moment. Not testing weather by any stretch of the imagination.
Testing in those conditions will be no fun and won't give a true feeling of the bikes and how they handle. I wouldn't send a dog out in that (Oh! Dear, will you just nip down to the garage and fill the cage up).

There's always next week. (I told you not to sell the DR until you had the new one sorted. Ha!)

I'm heading over the hill to Masterton today to visit a mate. I had fully intended going on the bike and having some fun on the Takas. The other half was going in the cage with the kids.

Unfortunately for me, the weather say's
Looks like I'll just have to go in the cage!
I'm only wearing black until they develop something darker

We came, We listened, And in one voice we answered

Hey! RnB, look outside. The weather appears to have broke. The darkness has gone and the sky is clearing. Me thinks it's testing time.....
Don't enjoy yourself.... too much !

What's happening over the rapa anyone? I might get that ride in yet!
Let's hope there are no slips on the Takas due to that downpour earlier today!

When I took the latest Goldwing for a test ride yesterday Energy Honda gave me a form to sign which basically pointed out that the first $1000 of any damage was my problem.

They've never given me anything to sign before, and that form did have a chastening effect. Although I did hit a tar patch mid corner in pissing rain which resulted in the usual little slide. As far as any sort of slide on a 'Wing is "little".

Ok So I got it totally wrong. That was just the calm before the storm. All I can say is that I'm glad I live at the top end of the street. The poor buggers at the bottom must be treading water by now.

I think i'll need get the wet suit out rather than the leathers.
