Take one slim, attractive young bloke. Sit him down on a sofa in front of a TV. Do everything for him for at least 10 years - cook his meals, wash his clothes, clean up after him.

Before you know it you're married to a PUDDING!

Don't have a problem with the ones that stick to the rules but have had some serious abuse from one trying to turn left through a red light when I was on a green and almost hit him

Jeez I know I should read the entire thread but my lunch break ain't THAT long!
Lissa...ignore the negative people, get out there and do it. If you REALLY DO want to get a bike then whats standing in your way?
I was riding trail bikes in my teens, inspired by my male friends who were all totally supportive! Since then my love of bikes has grown and those same male friends are now tied-down family men and jealous of me who has held true to my dream and has been thru numerous bikes since those early days.
I am struggling to pay off a mortgage but there is no way the bike will ever be sacrificed to pay debts.

I am guilty of that as well.I ran a red light late for work one morning and got pulled up by a cop.I had to sit and take his lecture, whistling silently to myself and gazing slightly skyward.Felt like a kid getting told off at school for disobeying the rules.

I can understand how it pisses people off, I am not really guilty of it these days, only occasionally when the road flows the way of the traffic, never at intersections.

Its sorta like you quote, "If you can"t be good, be good at it"
