McJim you just gave me traumatising flashbacks...

My chauffeur and I borrowed a scooter a few weeks ago for the Auckland ScooterFest. Funny little yellow Chinese thing - basically a kids' plastic toy with a 49cc motor strapped to it. We're not small people, so according to all who saw it, we looked really really daft.

The thing has a top-box, and by the time the chauffeur got his lanky legs on board there was only about 5cm of seat left between the back of his bum and the top box. Anyone who's seen me would know my backside's not going to fit in a 5cm gap. So we rearranged ourselves so his legs were poking out at about 90 degrees from the sides of the scoot and I was squished in behind him with my legs on just as bizarre an angle.

Of 120 scooters on the scooter run that day, we were 119th up every single hill. Hilarious fun though.
There is no such thing as bad weather; only inappropriate clothing!

Forget the RG for a moment please, what I have been trying to say is "VTR250 Good choice".

And watch out for the bicycle haters on this forum - there's a woman on here that believes cyclists deserve to die just for using the road. No names. You'll find out who she is when the next "Cyclists" thread rears it's ugly head - welcome to the engined fraternity by the way.

It'll be good, of that I am fairly confident. The limiting factor will be this rider not the bike for starters.

Thanks for positive words on the VTR.I am glad to hear from your experiences that they are good bikes.

As for cycle haters, well I have experienced that over the years, cannot really understand why, but its like a lot of prejudices, they are unfounded and come about through ignorance.I know we ride 2 abreast and piss people off, wear bad taste clothing, well not me I like to think, ...yer right! Some of the gear is hideous but the lycra stuff is comfy as and does not need to be completly garish. We are also legit road users same as slow tractors.I know a lot of people think we are pesky road users, hell we may inconvenience them for a few minutes, its not the end of the world.

Maybe I should hate all cars and trucks cause they try to take me out often and throw things at me occasionally. One truck run me off the road and missed me by a millimetre, just recently a truck driver decided to become extremly irate cause I wizzed through an intersection before him I had time to do so.You get to experience some extreme behaviour as a cyclist.Could write a thesis on it if I was a psycology student. Not sure what his problem was, bad day I guess. In an extreme instant a friend had a gun pulled on him a few years back. The cops became involved as you would expect and the guy was caught. He went on to shoot a cop in Gisborne a few years later.

Perhaps the cycle haters should try cycling. Its an awesome feeling to be really fit and challenge yourself.I see it as an experiment on the body to get the best preformance out of it that u can.You would be suprised at the speeds we can travel, its a blast, as well as an adrenalin fix we get a endorphine fix.Its fun to catch a truck and draft behind then. You can sit on 60kph.All adds up to a good day.

Cycling is popular with a wide range of sports people across a lot of disiplines including motorcross, rally, superbikes.Sebastin Loab has not been driving the last few rounds of the world rally after braking his arm in a mountain bike crash.Does she hate those people as well?Sorta bizarre really.

Feel like going for a ride now.

    You will be happy.

And when it comes time to get a bigger bike, don't sell the little VTR, I regretted selling mine.

I will have to sell my VTR otherwise I'm gonna have to find a bigger bike that only costs $1,000!

(Auckland house prices you see - means I only have $2.50 per week to feed the family or the house gets repossesed)

Still if the pudding does not rise in the oven you can still eat and enjoy, turn it into trifle and smother it with cream, yum, if the bike does not live up to expectations then, ....then what, well its just a bummer.

in other words, your pudding mught look good but you won't know how good it really is until you ride it on the twisties.

You will have to practice the fine art of 'trash talk' as well before challenging anyone in future. I mean, that was just too polite. You've got to talk yourself up, humiliate your opponent, and then hope like hell your faster or you will get burnt at the pub.
