Gixxer, cos I'm short, has more bottom end power, and gives a more comfortable ride on the road. In that order!! Both look great IMO.
Yamaha is my biased opinion![]()
It's a very real-world test track, sited at an old RAF base at Bruntingthorpe. I had the pleasure (hmmmmmm, maybe not... it was about 4 degrees and windy as hell on a typical British winter day) of joining the PB team for a comparison test between the 600k1-3 and the 600k4 just before they were released.
The track's a real mix of smooth and bumpy tarmac, concrete, patches of wax, on and off cambers, cracks in the surface, and I seem to remember there were even some manhole covers. It boasts one of (if not *the*) longest straights in the UK

What a difference indifference can make
Are you fucking retarded?
yours is an ex press demo bike (nicely run in from new) that the dealer picked up for about 12 grand. what did you pay?
a new one costs the dealer about 16.
and the only reason they were not flogged in aussie and shipped over here is that they could not be complianced over there.
Brunters is an old Air Force runway. Its now used by heaps of magazines including PB and Superbike as well as topgear and fifthgear tv shows.
A bike thats fast around it is more likely going to be road biased with more stable handling and greater midrange power.
The Yamaha isn't as quick as the Gixxer 6 for this very reason on Brunters. Some other mags show it as creaming the Gixxer on real tracks.
I prefer neitherbut the R6 looks cooler to me, although lack of any decent torque would piss me off on the road.
Viva La Figa
The R6 as it has the tricker bits and looks the bizz. Also it's won many comparisons over the gixxer. It's got a decent seat height too.
The Suzuki feels too small as though I'm on a 250 and the seat height is too low and I'm no fan of the styling - prefer the K4/K5. However it is a lot more comfortable compared to the R6 which has hardly any wind protection, even when crouched. - Which is an issue on high speed Coro Loops - or a whole day at Puke.
i've noticed many people mentioning the new gsxr's are more comfortable, limbimtimwim even said he could ride it all day..
Thats sold me on the gsxr600. If i can ride for 200km stretches at least (and not start getting sore), id be happy.
bring on the full licence! (and horribly expensive insurance)
